Always been a pc user but am slowly replacing with macs for these 3 reasons
1. Windows Vista Fully customized dell laptop running it blue screen of death every 2 to 3 hours all household desktops reverted back to xp
2. most pc companies 12.95 a month to speak with someone not from India
3.Boot Camp
Macbook pro purchased dell laptop after tier 3 customer service in india is being returned for a full refund
2 year old desktop getting replaced with a mac sometime next year
6 month old custom built desktop from a local mom and pop pc store will be replaced with a mac in 2 or 3 years
its not the marketing for me its that microsoft cant make a stable program and pc companies are getting as bad as the airlines on extra addons for anything
so Ill pay more save more in the long run and run boot camp with xp and hopefully the next windows version will be atleast decent and can bootcamp the new versions.
Well if your using Dells and VIsta.. thats the problem right there ha.
Also I forgot to mention Bunny, most key loggers are distributed hidden in other software anyway.. So the threat is the same. You download some software you think you want, you give access to install and bam theres a key logger bundled in with the software. This happens using either a Windows System or a Mac system, and its usually hidden in gaming hacks, or editing and designing software.
No Dain doesnt have your credit card info off hand, but he has your user name and password, which the majority of people will use the same user name and password on many things like bank accounts and paypal accounts, and it makes hackers jobs a hell of alot easier. Another dirty thing that dumb users can fall for is false websites, like websites selling Cable TV descramblers, or satilite hotboxes. Alot of people are dumb enough to give away their credit card info to small unknown websites. Some of these one man operations may actually be in business, and send youa working product.. then later on down the line when their business fails, they use your credit card illeagally.
I prefer Dell over any other computer....I desperately need a new PC cause the Dell I have now is like 10 years old and getting VERY slow, but I don't want Vista and am hoping to make it to the next operating system. :-/
Well I was told by a Dell employee about 5 years ago, that they had recently built a factory in Mexico, that is supplying the US. He said the new Dells were being manufactured very poorly compared to the ones they used to get in China. My main dislike with them is their hardware. Its just crap, and their chipsets suck. I could go out and buy a 30$ board and it would have a better chipset then the average Dell board. My mother had a dell desktop. It was running slow. I wiped her hard drive, and she started fresh. It was preforming alot better, but it was still really slow compared to my PC running at only 3/4 her specs. Also alot of their hardware leads to compatibility problems. IN alot of cases you have to buy hardware specifically designed for Dell boards.. you cant just go out and pick up that memory stick you saw on sale. As far as laptops, I couldnt really say what is top notch, But for Desktops, Stay away from Dell and Gateway, as you may get stuck with your hardware, and not be able to upgrade.. The best route is to build your own anyways. Its cheaper to build your own PC, and it preforms better.
Dragon - I've never had a problem with my Dell desktop. Their equipment runs the gamut just like every other manufacturer. If you buy the cheapest thing they sell, you'll get what you pay for.
I'm pretty impressed with their power supply reliability. When I bought mine, an XPS came with a 400W power supply, but I was able to successfully upgrade to a video card that most people claimed required 500+.
My only complaint was the limited number of PCIx slots. Forced me to get a GTX2 instead of running 2 cards in SLI.
