Can you give me a history of the game? Like where you got it, where that guy got it, etc etc. Just interested on the most expensive item I ever bought and own. Thanks, -Kirk
Oh, and Bournano, how much did you think this was worth? Just curious.
No problem, Kirk. Glad I could be of help to adding to your collection .
Btw, I bought this game from DreamTR in September '07, shortly after wanting to bid (and eventually refusing to bid) on an eBay auction for the first cart-only SE that had popped up since '06 (Erik (braveheart69) eventually won with a bid of $1775). I sold off many PS1 and PS2 RPGs and strategy guides to fund the purchase...I had maybe $600-$700 invested in them and a certain Super Turrican NTSC prototype. I sold the PS1 and PS2 stuff for $1400, and I used $1200 (maybe $1250...?) of that and that Super Turrican proto to trade to DreamTR for that copy. It was his spare (as at the time, he had one CIB). Where did he get it..? I couldn't tell you that, as I don't know .
Edit: I suppose one could say, in a twisted sense, that it was in fact possible to purchase a SE for $700 as recently as three years ago .
Also, I am very curious as to what Bournano thought it was worth. And let it be known, that I did not expect this auction to get near $2000, much less over it...in fact, I was figuring in the range of $1300-$1600 beforehand. Maybe I underestimated the market...?

Agreed, I figured anywhere in the $1500-$1800 range based on condition. But it is hard to "estimate these markets" when it is really the rarest item in the library and you never know who needs it. Sometimes you can name some of the more active members that are down to the end, but new guys or lurkers can always come out of the blue and grab it too.
Cool. The reason I still bought it even though way past the NA price guide etc is 1. because it was a really good copy from a trusted site, but probably more because I figure I better get it now while there is one available, as the guys that do have a copy are not going to get rid of theirs anytime soon, and currently everyone and there Mom always has an eye out for it so it would be even harder to find in the wild. I figure I might as well get it now, and if I ever do find it in the wild, then I could always sell that copy off later. Prices are only going to go up right.
I'm curious about how the auction went down? Like, were there bidders at $2200 and you topped them with $2202, or did you just throw the high offer out early on?
Hey man, the guide isn't always that up to date with rares like this It's mint. It's awesome. Value goes up on some of these. People will always feel game A is worth $X and game B is worth $Y. Just how it is. Braveheart69 paid $1775 4 years ago, so...

IT climbed at first, once it hit like $1600, it was just petty bidding to the final value. Lots of pauses for the people looking for a copy to check their bank accounts I think Very very fun to watch.
Still, a mint LEGITLY confirmed SE is one tough feat to knock out now a days. Still, congrats man!
Someone must really have wanted it minty beyond belief or I have just lost track of what this sells for. Last time I checked the going rate was around 1200.

I still have one CIB, though.
