Craigslist ad paid off within one day!
So after reading AYB's article on posting craigslist want ads I decided to try posting one again. I have posted ads before and never really got any responses, but this time around I worded it very general, here is what I exactly put:
Looking for games for the Original Nintendo Entertainment System.
Please let me know what you have and how much you are asking for them.
A plus if they have instructions/boxes with them. Thank you very much!
Very straight froward and general. Within a few hours of posting I had gotten 2 emails, one from a guy selling a gold Zelda for $30, and another from a collector local that said he wanted to sell some of his games. Later that night I was talking to a fellow NA member Brad, who was visiting in town and was going to go with me to the flea market the next day. After I got off the phone with him, not 10 minutes later I got a call from someone at about 10:15 at night, "Hey, ive got a box full of about 60 NES games, id sell them all for $100 cash." So I obviously got all excited, and ask him when he could meet me. He lived only 20 minutes away so we agreed to meet at a Wal-mart that was about half way between us. Lo and behold this guy drove out at 11:30 at night to meet up with me, this was super shady but I lucked out and make out like a bandit. Most of the games can be seen, and yes that is a boxed Final Fantasy, there was also an Adventure Island 3 with manual, which I needed. In all it was a very awesome experience, I can say it's the first time ive ever met up with someone that late at night on a whim.
The next day I met up with Brad (Bsblthrwr) at the Flea Market and I showed him around to the local spots. He picked up quite a few great deals, I snaged a Uninvited cart cheap, and after a debackle with the local reseller at the market (the tool as I call him) over a gold and Red NES system, I finally got fed up with his rettoric and walked away. We stopped and had some lunch, then stopped at Play N trade. My buddy there had saved some boxed NES games for me that had come in, Picked up Dragon Warrior 2, Nightshade, Gradius and a minty Orb 3d. He also hooked me up with a Mario Party 7 edition gamecube Box for free. Last stop was at a Goodwill where I found a Sonic 2 Tiger Handheld games for $1 sitting on top some old VHS tapes. In all it was an awesome day, tons of NES games, meeting a fellow NA member and spending the day in Florida.

Sweet pickups, man. I can tell you right now, no way would I meet a Craigslister at night, though, lol. Not unless I had some serious backup sitting in the car
Haha, it was in front of the 24 hour Wal-mart by the cameras so I wasn't worried.
I met a few craig listers at 1-2am before at my or there house..I prefer the night time
Penguin, where about are you in FL?
Fort Myers

I have some CRAZY stories. Is there a section on the site for stories?? I started typing one in particular and realized I should just find the appropriate section because of how long it is, lol.
But I once had a guy drive from Connecticut to my house in Pittsburgh for Magic cards and didn't want him at my house so met him after midnight in a parking lot and then sent him on his way. I felt bad, because he drove SO far. I think I brought a bat or something, since it was like for $800 - just in case. That's not even the story I had in mind!
No bad turnouts though - "expect the best / prepare for the worst", I always say!
OK, what section? I seriously wanna type these stories now, haha!
I've met 2 people from Craigslist, but both were in the afternoon. It'd have to be a pretty nice deal to make me go out at like 1:00AM to get it =P

Are you referring to the one at Fleamasters Fleamarket?
I live in FM too
You made out there didn't you? I have also thought of posting a want add on CL, but in my area, there are already 10 people who consistently have WTB ads everyday. Maybe if I throw something new and different I could get a couple of hits. It is just so competitive here...
x2..lol..we probably would post the same area anyway
Yea his dad is the owner of Record Trader on 41, he's such a tool.
Couldn't agree more dude, the first time I went there I was looking for a SNES adaptor for a bare console I had found in the wild. He didn't have any, but he was glad to try and sell me a generic adaptor for $15. He said he could even cut me a "discount" and throw in AV cables for an extra $5.
That's when I went down to the flea market on Ortiz and bought a first-party one for $5. That place can be great for adaptors, as long as you have the time to sort through all their junk.
I've never been back since then, but I've been tempted to go and act like a total idiot and waste his time for a few hours. That might be fun.
OT: Awesome find, but I don't think I'd be willing to meet someone in Ft Myers at 11 at night. Now that takes commitment!

Trust me you don't want to get him started. Brad and I were there this past weekend and I got him going about systems, and he swears up and down that there is a gold NES system.

Haha oh man, he sounds like quite the character. Do you know if he's friends with those vendors next to him? (the ones that spread all their games out on the table). Seems like every time I walk by he is talking to them, or atleast trying to.
Hopefully i'll bring pulling in a load like this come Saturday, eh? lol
Not if I beat you to it! ;P Granted there are less games I need so its harder for me to find stuff.
