Has one of these been found before?

  • I'm looking at the cart right now, and there is absolutely no crease whatsoever where it would be had the label been moved. I'm looking into getting a scan of the label for us - probably have to go to Kinko's or someplace.

Yeah, I have a lot of NES games that have a corner that look similar to that. Shit happens when the sticker isnt pressed on all the way.

To me, that corner does not look like someone was pulling on it at all.
  • I smell a poll. Also, is it a Purple Ganon?
  • I'm surprised it took 34 posts in this thread for a Purple Ganon joke to arrive.
  • well, it's cool no matter what image

i know , just fing around

now the real question is , what do i do with this game ?

  • sell it on ebay as a rare variant? image just kidding! drop it off the top of a 10 story building, hit it with a hammer, and then see if it still works? sounds like fun!
  • ^ or i can flip my nes collection

    worlds biggest flipped nes collection

  • or you could flip over your nes collection. but first you have to learn how to do a flip.
  • Or, I could flip my entire games collection! Yeah, right. I seriosuly have no idea who (other than James image ) would be stoopid enuf to flip a geamee.
  • I'm voting it's legit. I don't see any bubbling in the label. You'd have to be damn near perfect at it to get NO air between the label and cart, or to not lose any adhesive in the peeling process. Stickers that have been stuck for like 20 years aren't gonna come off without losing some of the glue.
  • Moar flipz plz
  • yeah james' picture made me think it's legit looks to good to be a fake. (estimated value elevendy billion dollars)I'd pay that but it's not payday sorry.

If it is a flip, why did it have to happen 20 years later? It would be easier to flip a newly applied sticker, epically if one of the edges or top was not stuck down all the way.

Disagree and disagree.  I work in the sign industry.  If it was that hard to apply labels without air bubbles, most sign guys would be out of a job.  I used to apply huge sections of vinyl on all types of surfaces with out bubbles.

Also, my dad gave me a  bunch of old baseball cards when I was a kid.  Awesome stuff from the 50's.  Only problem was that he had glued them on to poster board to display.  Well, a little bit of ironing for about 20-30 seconds, the 50 year old glue separated with ease.

To sit there and say make such statements seem ignorant.  It also makes scammers grin from ear to ear.  I vote for a fake here.  But even if it is real, who would want it?

You are talking about sign stickers that have never been applied and are flat. Not a sticker that has been removed and is wrinkled. The crease left behind on these cart labels can't be flattened realistically.

The glue you removed from your Dad's baseball cards was probably some crap glue. Nintendo stuck these labels on well and getting them off without damage is very difficult.

Some people collect flips or find them desireable. Zelda is such a popular one, some Zelda fan would find this to be valuable (say $50 is all). So no scammer would bother to really try all that hard.

    Your argument is crap.

  • yeah, ok. Not to hijack, but you have no clue what you are talking about. The adhesive for vinly is way more aggressive that a nintendo sticker. The vinyl needs to stay put in the rain, wind, extreme heat and cold. And - it can still be removed after many many years. But i'm sure the rocket scientist at nintendo have a far superior product for some cheap ass plastic games.

In addition, do you know anything about manufacturing in the USA? Products made in the early part of the century are far superior to products made today. Not going to get into details, but that is a fact. Look in any industry and this is true. My point is that the glue back then was real glue. Not pansy ass elmers or something that has to clear toxicity tests and be adjusted for current standards.

Funny how you are so caught up in your hobby that you have blinders on to the real world.

I'm gonna sit around one rainy saturday and flip all my carts. At $50 a pop, that's worth my time.
  • looks like the label was accidentally placed upside down when it was being manufactured. Most likely a machine error it does happen.

Ok, ya I obviously had no idea that you can take those signs off and then reapply them perfectly. I'm talking about a first time application.

And yes, the manufacturing in the USA is extremely similar to that of Canada and I'm still not convinced the white glue your Dad used 50 years ago is as good as the adhesive Nintendo used.

Go ahead and flip the labels, just like Qiz commissioned you to prove him wrong. Prove me wrong to.

  • I really want to try this. I bet you there is a method out there...it just hasn't been researched completely. Now to what game I want to destroy... image
  • Great. I seem to have started an argument between two members.

And sorry I haven't gotten around to scanning the label yet. Been doing lots of planning for my wedding. The scan is coming.
  • ^ No problem man. Oppossing views are good for collecting. It'll be good to know if Vice can flip labels. If he can, then we know it can be done. And that's a good thing image
  • Can we see a picture of the top of the cart?
