right, I'm not entitled to an opinion because I collect sealed?   Nice.    I've been collecting nintendo for 8 years and collectibles in general for 23 years but hey I (mostly) don't collect cib's so I know nothing about anything.    Are you really trying to say that?

No, you're entitled to whatever opinion you'd like to have, just an eBay seller can call their game "MINT" even if it was run over by a steamroller.  Your comment further reiterates my point, you are a collector mentality that happens to use games as his medium, thus why you collect sealed.  You are the minority and the majority of us are gamers first and collectors second, thus the reason cart collectors are so abundant.  And the line blurs in the CIB realm.

You don't collect CIB so I'm not sure why you'd grade CIB since you're only going to compare it to sealed criteria.  Dear god, my corners have whitening, let me go throw the game right in the trash.  Corner whitening is a huge deal to you sealed guys because that indicates a broken seal.  Corner whitening is still noticeable on CIBs but not nearly an issue.  I've never had someone demand a partial refund for "Corner whitening" on a CIB I sold as "MINT", yet I bet sealed guys would bark up and down a tree over corner whitening for a Sealed title advertised as "MINT".  That should tell you something right there.

Last I checked, all of your eBay listings are under video games?

    http://shop.ebay.com/thegreybox_restorednes/m.html?_nkw...=

You're free to list them under collectibles if you think that's where they belong.

In related news, I have graded my sealed collection and I am pleased to say they all rate between 156 and 192 on your 10 point scale image

seriously jone.     mint is mint.   if a 10 is mint it should like stick out amongst other games like a ferrari does on the street,  not like a mid level sedan.

  • Meh I guess we'll just never see eye to eye. I'm glad there's sticklers in the hobby like you guys because anytime I get a Minty gorgeous game in the mail my eyes light up with dollar signs. I know there will be some sucker to pay at least 1.5-2x the price of a normal good condition CIB, so I can buy an 8 or 9 myself and pocket the rest. Guys like you pad my bank account image
  • Because I have nothing better to do image I'll take another stab image

Even as a collectable (because I rarely play my games), when I grade out of 10 I consider ALL CIBs I come across, wild, ebay, NA, game shop, my collection, etc. I don't have any 1s or 2s in my collection, but I've got stuff from 3 to 9.75. I've seen 0s, 1s, and 2s, and these to me aren't good enough for my collection. They're ripped up and incomplete boxes. But this DK Math is well above average. That's it. If I see 1000 CIBs and 25 of them are 9s, only 1 will be a 10. But there will be probably 100 8s or so.

So ya, when you get picky and need wide gradation, I say 8.75 or 9.5 (usually just quartre points because beyond that you NEED pictures). But the gradation for everything the average nes CIB collector sees, this would be well above average. Look around on ebay and game stores. This is in pretty decent shape and deserves a 7 at least.

You are right about stuff less than 5. Whether it's a 3 or a 4, who cares, it's pretty beat up. Crushed with missing flaps or what ever, who really cares at that point. It's below average and a waste of time.

  • Hey guys, before this turns into another HoS incident, let's consider being adults here and use the PM button. The OP was only posting his finds and didn't want anything like this in his thread. let's try and stay relevant, okay?

I think it was an interesting discussion, we didn't slander anyone?  Oh and you're a poopy-head.

    (Kidding, please don't page moderators.)
  • whenever jone is brought into an argument, the thread should probably just be locked! problem solved. on a related note, i was watching vh1 best reality moments and i saw where jone was on the surreal life with ron jeremy. when ron jeremy voted him off, jone went nuts! i wouldnt mess with him, he is crazy! he might try to throw a drumset at you if you piss him off enough!
  • Yeah, It might look abrasive but we're just having fun here. It's all good sport.
  • *squints eyes*

I'm watchin' boyees ferm now on. You ain't goonna' git away ferm me thiz timea!
  • Ya, I totally respect quill's and bronty's opinions. They have a lot more collecting experience than I do and they're probably more correct. Just an interesting topic. Worthwhile one to when you consider how convenient and often used the 10 point scale is. If the OP has a problem, sorry dude. He probably enjoys the read though image Not to mention it's a sweet find image
  • the OP doesnt have any problems with the thread... it is all of us who are jealous of his find! image

dan, you dont have a dk math sealed, do you? i would have to assume that is one of the last few on your list. i assume you have a minty CIB though... is it a 9? image
  • No no no, it's a 26! And I was joking too. I was just playing you to see how nervous you guys got, though I did sense some a$$-whuppin' about to take place. Carry on!
  • hey there's no such thing as bad advertising right? We are keeping his thread bumped to the top!
  • Joner, your spot on with my collecting style. I'll give you that bud. If it were financially feasible for me to collect sealed then I would. I suppose that would skew my grading outlook. However I know quite a few other people on the site that thinking along the same lines as me (understandably in the minority). And beyond that I think that higher majority people would actually be rather sour about a "mint" game like you described earlier having corner whitening.

Since it is obvious that people are different in their grading thoughts this all seems pointless. We're all basing these different thoughts on the OP's pictures he provided. We can all disagree on a verbal, or numerical represented scale. But visually it is what it is.

I guess I'm saying... JUST ASK FOR A DAMNED PICTURE image

I don't care who it is saying, "hey I have a blah blah blah 9.5/10 send me monies"
I would not be able to hand my money over till a picture was supplied.
  • I must ask this though. Hey jonebone, whatcha listening to?

Okay and I'm glad there are suckers, as you put it, who think 5s are 9s so that anyone with a clue can scoop up the *actual* 9s for 10% more.    Oh - and that the second they have something worth keeping can't sell it fast enough.      Poopy-head image

  • Okay okay, I take back. jonebone is right. This DK Jr. Math is a 9, but who cares anyway what it would grade since it's just a stupid video game? Why not just throw box and manual in the garbage while we're at it? And the game is so bad it should go right in there as well. OP got ripped off by the way, he could play all these games on an emulator for free!

We aren't collectors because video games don't belong to the Collectibles category on eBay. NintendoAge isn't about collecting at all and Dain is just a random guy making fun at us while we're getting ripped off by jonebone who's selling us Mint games during his working hours to buy himself some fancy basketball gear and more games as well but this isn't a paradox because jonebone is always right and cool no matter what will happen (takes a deep breath).

Oh and Seth likes to flirt with prepubescent schoolgirls wearing mini skirts and high heels. Does that make enough sense now?

image   I hope not!   After all I had to pay $450 for it.    Of course, jone will probably say I was silly back then for paying that much when I could have had a cib for $100 or so back then.   I guess it was a bad decision!
  • Wasn't it jonebone who sold you that DK Jr. Math back in the day?
  • Yup - that's what I get for padding his bank account! image

I can't tell you how many PMs I've gotten for various games there.

This thread has meandered down a path I had not expected.  I can't say I'm surprised with it's outcome though.  Can we keep the sarcasm and flaming down to a minimum please?!

You still can use the "Page Moderator" feature, but I doubt you want to get yelled at by 15 mods at the same time for using it the wrong way. image

    Awesome find by the way!

hmm... I don't have a picture of that one, so yes, you must be correct!!   image   thanks bud image
  • Jeez, $450, ya you sure did get ripped off. Like quill said, it's just a stupid game. A bad one at that. Good thing some reseller was able to pad his bank account selling you that one. image

I woulda thought that to be on your list as well. I saw you post that photo about a month ago and was shocked. And to think there are 2 out there. Wow.
