X-mas came early this year!
Went out this morning and came home to 2 boxes filled with all kinds of goodies. I've bought off NESFan80 in the past and he's a great dude but he hooked me up majorly this time around. This was by far my biggest purchase to date. I'm keeping the cost a secret but I got a hell of a price on what I did get, I'll say that much. Joe hooked me up with a free game for every 5 and he still has another box of free stuff coming in the mail. He even Fed Ex'd it so I got it fast as hell! Not only did I get that box but my I got my new, free 250 gig Xbox 360 in the mail as well. Long story short, my old one red ring'd, had to jump through hoops to use my Wal-Mart warranty cos they don't cover red ring, a half-assed towel trick later and I get this one in the mail for free. Okay, here's the loot.....

Since I basically wiped out my paypal balance I can use all the help I can get making some money back. A small minority of the things I got are doubles so I will be selling/trading off some things. The Mega Man box was an upgrade by the way... I'll post here or on GameGavel the things I don't need, the doubles or the upgraded so please don't flood my inbox with "will you sell me this, this and this," messages cos I probably won't. Thanks!!!

For future reference, most store warranties won't cover the RROD on a 360, but Microsoft covers it for 3 years. Store warranties are bullshit, I never pay the extra because they don't do anything the manufacturer doesn't do, save for make it a bit more convenient. Next time, just send it back to Microsoft and they'll send you a new one.
Right on, in fact the store warranty can be as much as 15% of the purchase price...but it generally only costs $10-$15 to get a console back to the OEM. When I bought my $299 PS3 Gamestop tried to squeeze an extra $40 out of me. Schwarze, bitte!

I would have had to pay the shipping sending it back to Microsoft and they'd send me a refurbished system back. My original was a gift as was the warranty so I had nothing to do with that. I knew that if Wal-Mart's repair center couldn't fix the problem I'd get reimbursed instead and could just buy one of the new ones since the price drop, so I pursued that. Next time (hopefully there won't be) I'll have to go with Microsoft since I'll have no other option. But you're right, I was real pissed when I first called them about it and they told me I had to send it Microsoft for the red ring anyway. After I did the towel trick, the system kept freezing but would boot up and that's how I got them to take it.. all it took was one botched towel trick hah.
