CGE 2010 Scores Thread

After day 1 at CGE, I thought I'd post a few scores and hope other peeps at CGE post up as well. I'll try and post pictures at some point as well.

At the auction last night, I picked up a VGA 85 Zelda II (gray seal) for $100, a CIB FlashBoy for $160 and Qixmaster found one of the last Gameboy manuals I needed and just plain gave it to me (thanks for the hookup Josh!).

I didn't buy too much yet, but might be picking up a sealed Cheetahmen II as well to get one step closer to having all the games I sold back.

Comments

  • Congrats on the finds/ pickups Dain!
  • Just picked up a sealed Cheetahmen II and a near-complete mostly sealed Virtual Boy set.
  • Nice Scores Dain!
  • 20+ good/great condition CIB NES games! May have overpaid on some commons like DW2 ($45) but being able to see condition in person is very nice.

Also got Maniac Mansion and Monster Truck Rally CIB signed by Dave Warhol who did the music engines and other code on them. Monster Truck Rally was the first NES game he worked on after INTV programming, and never got paid for it! He still has all his source code but its on floppies in an archive format he hasnt extracted yet.

Was going to get Tengen Super Sprint signed by Steve Woita of Atari fame but never saw him. The manual credits him as a "special thanks" but no further details.

Biggest score was meeting Dain, Uncle Tusk, qixmaster, TheRedEye, robin, and more who I am forgetting.
  • Oh Dain it was you that won the zelda. Glad it went to someone cool. image I think I was the only person bidding versus you on that one. Which game boy manual was it that you got?

Highlights for me were a 9+ CB Contra Force, a Mega Man 7 cart, and a bunch of cheap Game Boy stuff.
  • Yep, I couldn't believe I scored that Zelda for that price. The GB manual was Battletoads / Double Dragon.

I got to meet Bunnyboy, his wife, her sisters and some other very cool people with them. I also got to meet Zi, TheRedEye, Adam Cornelius, and also a few other I know I'm forgetting. In all, we had a great time.
  • Nice grab on the Cheetahmen 2 sealed. I just had to see that beauty at least 3-4 times at the atari2600.com booth.
  • I need to make it to more of these conventions. I went to MGC this year in Milwaukee, and it was pretty cool. I'd love to be able to hit up some of the bigger ones eventually. I'm hoping I can budget Portland into next year.
  • Picked up my Campus Challenge SNES from Bunnyboy, sealed Strip Poker Male Edition for Atari XE for robin and tusk to play, sealed Jackie Chan ps1 game, sealed city connection from SystemFreak, Kirby GB NFR cart with a TRU sticker on the bakc, splatterhouse repro... not much else. While riding today in Vince's super sweet company car, his convertible top crushed my campus challenge box and strip poker. It didn't matter though because he has sweet eyes and a beautiful adams apple.

Met some new peeps and some old friends. Didn't know theredeye was around but I hung out with the film crew and didn't get to see much else. Was cool to meet zi and find out he was normal. Was really rad to see his clear NES system in action at the Tetris booth. SystemFreak, DreamTR, Dain and his bro, Bunnyboy, the whole NWCGE crew (Ybot, Swlovinst, Rick, Chuck, Cory and Lee) - it was all good to see you guys again. I can't wait for Portland!
  • damn dain, you mustve hit the lottery! myriad, panesians, cobra, now this! you lucky bastard you! you need to buy a cib SE now... i think i may know someone who has one... err, i mean two... err, i mean three... wait, i think he has 4! image
  • That clear NES was awesome, wasn't expecting to see that there!
