Stadium Events

Didnt see it.  Just heard about it.  Flea Market in Albuquerque, NM.  2 weeks ago.  A cart sold for $400 and i missed it.  Sad freaking day.

  • Lets hope it was the PAL version...
  • It wasnt. Pure NTSC version. However, I have no proof. I'm sure the person who bought it knew what it was and checked. Or maybe he didnt.
  • If you sell it for $400, you do know it is rare and must have done some research. Why not just put it up on ebay
  • Tits or it didnt happen.. I mean, pics
  • ahaha herb
  • Yeah this kind of story can't rely on word of mouth
  • This is bogus. You would either buy this game for market price, or stupid cheap because it appears to be a normal sports game. There is no happy in between price IMO. Like someone said, just typing in the name would reveal all the stories and prices they sell for, and noone at a flea market would settle on $400 when the market is $2k+. Not only that, they would have to have some research to even mark a NES cart that high. I say pal copy, or, BS.

On a side note, I heard a NTSC stadium events prototype was found as a prize in a cracker jack box. Lucky!!! image
  • Well here is how i heard. I go to visit Albuquerque here and there. I go to a few select stores because of their prices. Without even hesitation, one of the guys in there goes, you're a collector, right? Well I was at the flea market, walking around and there was a copy of Stadium Events on display for $400. He said he would have bought it if it wasnt for lack of $$$ so he watched it go off to an older gent. Flea market prices cant be outrageous but this person obviously knew what he had and knew he could get a penny for it. Like I said, there is no proof from my part but if this did exist, I wish I could have had the opportunity. I can always keep checking ebay and craigslist for the person but i doubt he will sell it.

I see what you are saying, it is just realllly hard to believe. I mean, if anyone knew the value of that game, and saw it for $400, they would instantly ask the person to hold it, and do w/e they can to get the funds. Shit, Id take out a loan at 50% interest and buy it at that price, open a credit card, what have you.

The last one sold for $2200 I believe?, so saving yourself $1800 as a collector would have been a big accomplishment. I still think it was a PAL copy...but just my thoughts

I'm gonna agree. Probably the seller bought the PAL off ebay for $175 or so and sold there for $400. Not unrealistic.
  • That sounds weird that they sold it for $400.00. Anyone who knows the rarity of the cart itself would do research on it, and know the differences.
  • Move the decimal once to the right and I'll believe this happened.
  • Lol Reminds me of a guy that hits all of our local fleamarkets. I got to talking to him one day a few years ago He went on to tell me he found 2 cib stadium events at a auction. Whe I asked what he did with thme he said hesold them on ebay for such and such amount of money. I just kind of said ok. knowing at that point in time there had not been a cib copy for sale in a long time and with this site and others there is no way a copy sells un noticed let alone 2 .so i take what anyone says at a flea market with a grain of salt
  • Could have just been the april fool repro. Someone might have got it offline and took it to the flea market to sell for 400 bucks.

The last item's sell price does not dictate future value (nor set the price-mark), but I see your point. If I was gunning for an expensive game like this and could save hundreds on it, I think I'd be tempted to hit the ATM right there.

I understand this, but this was bidding in NA chat, and I know the 2 other individuals that bid that high have yet to acquire the game, so I would still assume the demand at that price is still accurate since it hasn't been far from that sale date.

Of course, as everyone says....the value of an item is whatever someone is willing to pay. I'm basing my assumptions on this.

I'm not gonna lie.  If I had the money to blow, I would for sure spend a good amount of money on a Stadium Events NTSC CIB, no questions asked.
