N sixty-score

I don't usually do much with n64, though I've been passively collecting carts I come across as cheap to start the collection on the side. But when I see a CL post for 3 systems, 8 controllers, and 25 games for $20, I don't waste any time. I called the guy up, told him I was already on my way, and he held them for me. When I got there he told me he'd gotten a LOT of emails in the hour it'd been up, but I was first. I bet he did! Here's what I got...

I still have to test everything, he said 2 systems work with some effort
and 1 might not, but you had to  blow in all of them. I figure that
means all they need is cleaning! I'm really bummed that the green system
is missing the expansion port cover though " class="moz-smiley-s2">image " class="moz-smiley-s2">image There is some RF
adapter from MadKatz in here too

Some of the sticks are alittle loose, but no so loose that they don't
stay upright when you don't touch them.
Others are good, and I'll put them in the colors that might sell the best (whichever those are lol(.

A lot of games, probably half, have at least some label damage. Still a
good deal if I sell them to players and not collectors! Games are:

Zelda: Majora's Mask (gold) - great shape

Zelda: Majora's Mask (gold) - great front, back label gone

Zelda: Ocarina of Time (gold)

Zelda: Ocarina of Time (gray)

Pokemon Stadium 2 (half-gold?) front is gold, back is gray haha

Pokemon Stadium (name on label)

Pokemon stadium

Pokemon Stadium

007 - World is not enough (blue)

007 - Goldeneye

Star Wars Racer

Star Wars Racer

  • nice. I think all copys of pokemon were half gold, but I could be wrong.
  • Well if they are all like that, that would be better. I got kind of lucky in that this guy had 3 kids and they all wanted Zelda it seems haha. ebay is less discriminating about label damage at least image The 2-color pokemon just looks so silly
  • Pokemon Stadium 2 is half gold half silver because its for pokemon gold and silver.
  • Oh, that makes sense. Thanks Jason!
  • I was the second person to e-mail that guy!

I had a feeling it was you or Scott
  • Yea, I knew I had to email him fast, because I figured you or Scott would be on it fast haha =p
  • did he offer you his PS1 stuff? he sent me an email after you picked it up saying he has a system and some games
  • Yea when he was there he talked about it but that he hadn't gone through the games yet, but a rough idea of what he was lookin to get. He wasn't ready to sell it while I was there and told me if I wanted he'd email me to see if I wanted to come pick it up. If he told you how many games he has and that he went through them, I guess he changed his mind image I did ask first if he had any Final Fantasy games haha
  • Nice score overall, you should be able to get $10 for each of those controllers.
  • Must cost a lot to ship these things though. Never resold n64 parts haha. You grabbing that ps1 lot?
  • You won't pay much more than $4 or $5 to ship them I dont think. I've sold them for $15 shipped before...the colored ones at least. I'm gonna stay away from the PS1 lot - I don't collect them and they suck for resale unless you get some great titles.
  • Yea and he told me there were a lot of bootlegs LOL
  • nice score Andrew! I had 4 controllers up on ebay about a month ago. 2 auctions each one had a purple one and a gray one. I think that I got 15 for one auction and 20 for the other. I think I paid 6 for shipping. I boxed them up well so the sticks did not break in transit. I know the systems aren't really worth it to sell. They usually go for cheap and im guessing that it really is not worth it to pay the shipping.
  • I send N64 Controllers first class with DC for about $2.60 or $2.77 in some large manilla envelopes protected well with bubble wrap.

Have done around 25 or so this way and never had a complaint and none have been broken in shipping.

You'll make a killing off the lot if the joysticks are good.
  • Good thinkin Jone, I always sent my controllers in boxes but I supposed a padded envelope w/ bubble wrap will work too. Thanks!
  • Yea that's a good idea Jone. I have to wonder - what's the threshold for a "good" controller stick. Not all of them are vigin-tight, do you go by "if I can play a game properly on it, it's good" ? Usually for me if I tilt the controller and it doesn't just flop al the way to one side, or more than halfway, I consider it to be good. I imagine when shipping them it would be okay to pack it so that the stick is pushed into a corner, so that it doesn't move around or snap. After all, its only the number of times it rotates that grinds it down, not just being turned!

As for the systems, they tend to sell like crap, but I think I heard that the see-through green ones sell okay? Problem is that missing damn expansion port cover image
  • nice score!
  • I just wanted to comment on the cleaver thread title. Who doesn't like a play on words.

Exactly what I was thinking. That's easy money on those controllers. I missed out on a  n64 find today. Ad was in the paper for 94 games for $120. I didn't want to call super early, so I called at 7:15 this morning and he had already sold them. You can bet the next one I find, I'm waking someone up. He did have 68 genesis games for $85 but he had sold 20 of them already so I bet whoever got the n64 cherry picked the genesis. Also had 33 intellivision games but I wasn't interested.
  • If only I could find a deal like that. =/
  • Nice score! I always wanted to get those colored systems! One day I will start looking. My fav is the green or orange one.

Wow, that's not bad at all. $25 with just one controller and the wires + shipping would be a great way to get my money back in one shot and keep a few games for myself. Throw in free shipping on up to 3 games and get some of those moved out as well haha
