My story from last month

Meant to post this a month ago and forgot.

Had a dude call and  tell me he had tons of old systems, games, etc...He was a bit of a drive away so I tried to get some idea what he wanted but he wasnt real helpful. So I made the drive. I brought a wad of cash just in case but was skeptical as I never find anything awesome. Anyway, I get there and its like the parking lot for the shooting of deliverance. Kind of iffy (glad I brought my really big friend along). I head inside and theres shit all over the table.

4 Toasters
1 snes
1 PS2 slim
3 ataris
Tons of extra rf's, controllers, etc...
1 genny
55 Nes games (nothing super exciting but solid)
20 SNES games (solid but unexciting games)
30 Atari games plus gamecenter (worth crap from what I can tell)

Stuff is dirty as hell and is going be some work to make sellable. I make my inital offer which was more than fair then the kid says EBAY and I was like ah crap. Anyway, I made my final offer and explained how EBAY works. they accepted. I overpaid based on my usual margins so I wasnt thrilled but was content.

So I get home and unload all this dirty shit and leave it in the garage. A week later I have some free time so I start cleaning. I dig out the toasters and check them for left over carts inside. First one: Bases Loaded. Second One: Battletoads. Third One: Menace Beach in mint condition (holy crap!) 4th: Some crap game.

So all of the sudden I felt a lot better about my purchase. it was pretty cool!

Heres the cart which a member here just bought today:

  • Nice! There should be a separate thread for "What did you find in a toaster?" I know I've gotten a Final Fantasy and a Mike Tyson's Punch-Out in toasters that were not mentioned, which translates to about an extra $10 of resale each time.

Good idea on the thread. Post it in the site suggestions as I think that would be a cool thread to read.
  • Nice story. I love finding games in systems. I've pulled out a Zelda and a SMB 3. Nothing as awesome as Menace Beach, but still good considering I didn't pay for them. XBOX and PS systems are also a good bet to have games in them.

You're right about that.  I got an Xbox lot with about 30 games in cases with manuals recently.  I checked them all as I was putting them into my collection and of course the most expensive one, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, was missing its disc!!

I had to hookup the system to open up the tray and sure enough it was in there.  For about 5 minutes though I was not too happy.
  • Nice find Ryan!
  • I agree with the thread idea. I have never found a game inside a console, maybe I will in the future.
  • That is very minty indeed!
  • Nice find...it was as if the toaster was used to preserve the nicest game of the lot...
  • That's an awesome find, and literally a find lol
  • Cool story. So far the only things I've found hidden inside toasters is Golgo 13 and Mario/Duck Hunt (surprise)
  • I actually found a Silent Service cart in my toaster. (props, props) Cool story, and I'm sure a thread with others sharing their experiences would be interesting.
