Donkey Kong 3 Screw

Cart is in 7/10 condition but it was the CAN version.  But oh well, 3 screw is 3 screw.  Guy had it listed for $34.71 BIN with a Best offer so I thought I would do $20 and he accepted.  I think $25 shipped was a reasonable price for this.  But do you all think that I overpaid or it was a steal or just a decent find?

  • Dan sold it, and he is usually pretty fair with his prices. So I would say you got a pretty good deal.
  • 3 screw isn't a 3 screw when it is a Canadian game, there is no rhyme or reason to how they do it!
  • I don't think I've even seen that many 5-screw -CAN games. Think we got the screws earlier, but the hangtab boxes stuck around longer. I blame Mattel image
  • I agree, every -CAN game seems to be more common in 3 screws version.
  • New to NES collecting, but does every game have these screw variations?
  • there was an article in the ezine a few months back. To be honest im lazy to look for the exact issue. I believe it was Dangevin did a whole article on screw variants.

Not every game has them. Its mainly during the changeover period of one of the revs. Some are harder than others. Like a 5 screw zelda is easier to find than a DK 3 screw. It still gives me a headache

Are you doubting my abilities to read my own cart?
CAN or not, its still a 3 screw DK that I was missing and would hardly ever find in stores or better than typing in Donkey Kong NES on ebay then enlarging every image just to look at the top of the cart.
  • read the cart? where on there does it say that it is a canadian cart?
  • lol, well first of all. The NES-DK-CAN below the Nintendo Seal is a helpful hint. Plus the back caution label is in english and in french.
  • in the picture on the auction, there is nothing below the seal
  • Yeah we've been discussing this in PM. I've owned four or five of these over the past six months, and I'm not sure how I sent out a CAN one but the last time I got a CAN in the mail was almost two years ago now. He's happy with what he got and we exchanged FB but there was certainly no intent to send him anything but the USA game. Thanks for watchdogging for him though guys.
  • okay, thanks for the clarification, dan. i thought i was missing something there, cuz i stuck my face right next to the computer screen and didnt see anything under that seal on the cart!
  • I was reading this post and it made me look for my DK3 I bought from Goodwill a couple of days ago when I was out of town. It just happened to be a 3-screw and I paid 1.75 for it. I thought it was pretty cool.
