RacerMate Challenge II (Almost Complet)

I like to thank my friend Brittany for telling about this guy Who had almost the complet set. I know it works but I was only able to start the race but unable to move my charector. It might be because I don't have the right bike because I'm unable to pedal my bike on the motor. One ear pice is torn but the other looks fine. I'm also missing a magnet. But I don't regret paying serval hundreds for this. I think I Found a great find.

  • Dude that is awesome I want one so bad. Did you find this one on CL?
  • I didn't know you needed a modded NES to play the racermate cart. How much did you have to shell out for this?

And do collectors really include this game in their complete NTSC set? I've always viewed the entire thing (cart included) as more of an accessory than a game. It wasn't available in stores, right? You had to order it from some company?
  • That cart looks diffrent from mine??

No. My friend Brittany told me a guy was looking to sell this game and stuff that he found in a yard sell. She gave me his number and I call him up and I found out this was the game there was no way I was going to pass it up.

My the tengen cart. I belive this one came from Australia.
  • Cool, this is a first-release model with the toaster instead of the toploader, inside the Tengen cart. I'm still missing the Tengen variant!

BTW if anyone is interested in a Racermate modded toaster like this and doesn't care to have the whole set of other components, I have a spare. The board's been modded internally, pretty clever.
  • I've never bothered to open my toaster up, but it has this thingamajobber over the controller ports. As you could tell by my technical terminology I know a lot about this.
  • nice pickup man, congrats!
  • Very nice! You don't see these everyday.

Fine I guess I tell you guys. I paid 700$ for this. It probably a rip off, but what are the chances that I will see all this stuff again.
  • Hey with stuff like this its really worth what someone is willing to pay. Congrats on the rare find!

I don't consider it part of the set, and I don't count it as needed for the accessory set either, because it's a self-contained stand-alone item.  I do, however, want to own one one day, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

That's really not that bad of a price.  Like Dan said in your previous thread, cycling enthusiast still drive the price of these through the roof.  I'd say you did just fine.

  • Nice pick up. I think that I paid ~650 for a complete set. And I got the toster one.
  • Considering the rarity, $700 is not a bad deal.
  • Well the bad news is that I don't have a place to keep it my apartment. However my grandma said it was alright to put the stuff in her attic until I get a house. However I'm keeping the game with the rest of my nes games.
  • I think this game is more official then say Caltron or Myriad. If Racermate were allowed by Nintendo to modify the consoles then its pretty damn official.

Nintendo didn't allow them to do any of this.  From my understanding Computrainer/Racermate approached Nintendo with the idea, Nintendo said no way, so Computrainer decided to do it themselves.

More official than Caltron and Myriad?  Debatable since the whole Caltron/Myriad thing kind of teeters on if it is a pirate company who did the manufacturing of this stuff.  I'd say it is more so an Unlicensed game than Caltron or Myriad, but not more official.  Nintendo did not endorse this product one bit.

Where do you get your information from? Did you work for Nintendo or something?
  • No? This is an unlicensed game. Not endorsed by Nintendo. Contacted people at computrainer/racermate years ago and this is what I heard.
