---Soul Blazer is a great game that is similar to Zelda III.
---Tetris Attack is my favorite puzzle game ever. Lots of depth and very addicting.
---Super Castlevania IV is probably my favorite SNES game. It has a lot of replay value, despite being the easiest Castlevania game I've ever played. Being able to whip in 8 directions has always been a lot of fun and I can't understand why Konami has never brought that back to their games. It's true that it makes the game easier, but it also makes it a helluva lot more fun.
Sonic Blastman 2 is a must have game that hardly anyone has played. It is great! Sparkster is fun. I like Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, Kendo Rage, Metal Warriors, Captain Commando, Ninja Warriors, Strike Gunner STG(one of the better shooters), Space Megaforce, Lion King, Turtles In Time, Zombies ate my neighbors, Ghoul Patrol, Wild Guns is awesome!! Skyblazer is a must have cheaper game. It is by sony imagesoft, which made horrible games but this game is great.
Super Castlevania IV and Super Metroid are my 2 favorite games. They are both absolutely incredible. As far as a lesser known game that I don't think anyone's mentioned yet, try the RPG Shadowrun. It takes place in an urban setting in the future. It's unlike any RPG I've played.
Staying away from the obvious and selections others have mentioned (and where's the Chrono Trigger love!?!?), I'd say Super Adventure Island 2, Mega Man X, and Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse.
I've been watching this thread since it went up and when I see it I've wanted to reply but never can think of a specific game. I mean story wise nothing gets more twisty, deep, emotional and magnetizing as Final Fantasy II, but there are a few other games I value even more for other things with game play and what not. Hell considering the resale market, value wise I'd throw Dracula X w/the book in perfect shape or Earthbound against that argument too.

I actually like Shadowrun on the genesis better. I can't believe Chrono Trigger isn't showing up left and right on here. I think overall, my favorite snes game would either be Secrets of Evermore, Final Fantasy 3, Megaman X, Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger.
^ I like it better on the Genesis too, but I didn't want to sound like a dick considering the thread's about SNES. Thanks a lot Joey.
I love my sega genesis but I'll admit, games were usually better on the snes by comparison, like Mortal Kombat 2 which was much closer to the arcade than the genesis with the canned sound. I would say Shadowrun was one of the small few of examples of the genesis having the superior game and I just had to come out and say it.
Most stuff on Genesis when there was a SNES version were pretty well crap, but I totally concede that Shadowrun outclassed on there, but also the 'versions' of Disney games done by Disney vs Capcom were in a far better league especially Aladdin. What the hell do you expect when Capcom goes the cheap route, and Sega gets real Disney animators?

That's very true. I would say the Mortal Kombats, NBA Jams and Earthworm Jims were better on the Genny as well though. Pretty much everything else was better on the SNES though.
The snes killed the genesis at the RPG game while I thought that the genesis came out ahead with the beat em ups and shooters and sports titles. Each system had their own exclusives that made it worth it though. Like Contra 3 vs Contra Hard Corps and Super Castlevania vs Castlevania Bloodlines and Final Fight and Ninja Warriors up against the Streets of Rage series. Alot of it comes down to a matter of taste but overall, the snes was technically superior with a much stronger sound chip.
Super Castlevania IV (that is, if I can only pick one favorite). Excellent visual effects, solid, precise gameplay and controls, a beautiful-yet-catchy soundtrack, etc. etc. This is the one SNES game I play through a couple of times a year.
I've now currently bought the following titles along with a system:
Donkey Kong Country
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Final Fantasy III
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Star Fox
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario World
Couldn't fit much more in the box and would cost a lot more to get a larger box. I'll have to buy some of the other titles mentioned here later. I definitively need to get my hands on Super Castlevania IV (I like the ones for the NES a lot), Super Metroid, Earthworm Jim and Final Fantasy II. I'll have to look up the other lesser known titles, hopefully there's a hidden gem or two.
I not much in the snes but if I have to pick. I have to say Chrono Trigger. It plays like Final Fantasy but instead of random battles. I can see the enemy and try to escape. I also love how you go stright to the battle instead of sitting and wait until the battle begins.
I played so much several years ago in college I started to name the icons.... Counter measures were the green shells when you dropped them backwards when a red shell was going to hit you (from Hunt for Red October). You had to pray to the "Gods of Icon" to get a good question mark item. There were more but I cannot remember right now.

That's not really an apples-to-apples comparison, since they're completely different styles of games.
I prefer the SNES version, though.
Fav RGP has to be FF2.
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. The gameplay, graphics, and music are perfect. This game IS the reason I got a SNES.
Y'know, suprisingly, Power Rangers on the snes is a very solid beat em up.
Donkey Kong Country
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Final Fantasy III
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Star Fox
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario World

2 player battle mode.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors - Just plain fun as heck game.
SMRPG - Fun Light RPG and square plus nintendo at once.
Super Mario World 2 - A great game overshadowed by its better older bro.
FFIII - craziest story I had even seen at the time.
Super Punchout - new characters make this awesome as well as the NES version.
Mega Man (all) - great SNES platformers.
Wild Guns
Because they are incredible and nobody mentioned them.
Super Mario RPG: One of my favorite RPGs, very fun game.
Final Fantasy 2 and 3: Some of the best RPGs of all time, esp. 3. Kefka is the greatest villan of all time IMO.
megaman x series: If you are a fan of the original Megaman games, Megaman x is just as challenging.
super castlevania: One of my favorites in the castlevania series, great game all round.
megaman x series: If you are a fan of the original Megaman games, Megaman x is just as challenging.
The Megaman X games are great, but they're actually a lot easier than the NES version.
Some of the boss fights are comparably challenging, but the platforming is a lot more forgiving.
Great adventure games
Super Mario World
Super Mario All Stars
Super Metroid
Final Fantasy 2 &3
Zelda Link To The Past
Donkey Kong Country 1-3
What could possibly go wrong?
