Poll of the Day (11/23/07)

My opinion is... I don't bother with them... I think your body needs to be exposed to the little colds/flus so that you can build up natural defenses to the super strain bugs that come every few years.

  • I used to get them but not for a few years now. I don't mind needles I just hate the aggravation of going to the doctor's to get one.
  • I hate needles >.<
  • i never get them because im too lazy, however, i really don't mind needles at all.
  • I'd get one if it was free, but if they cost then I will pass.
  • i havnt got one since i was a kid... if i had kids i would get them one but i dont need it...
  • I hear a lot of people get pretty sick when they get the flu shot, so that scares me away enough. I haven't really gotten flu sick in awhile, so I count my blessings.
  • id rather have the flu than a shot.
  • I get them if they are free and close. I won't make a special trip to the doctor for them or anything.

I don't even want to know who would want to take an anal shot from me O_O

  • I thought the shots built up your resistance and that's how they prevented you from getting it. Not like antibiotics that kill bacteria so they don't affect you...It's an inactive strain you introduce to your body so your natural defenses still build up antibodies that it would normally produce...just ahead of you catching an active virus so that there's enough in the blood stream to kill small colonies before they multiply. There's really no danger in vaccinations afaik. Super flus just are immune to your natural antibodies, whether you had a shot or not. (Or at least, the kind triggered by the vaccination).
