Give me 10 good reasons to keep collecting
Ok, here's the deal. I've been collecting for about 4 years and started up collecting for all systems.
I've found peace with selling all my Sega (except all Sonic and my MD1 w/mega-cd and MS converter, but I guess they will go as well), Sony, Xbox (not the 360) and all other systems/games which isn't Nintendo.
I only buy NES games anyway and want a full set of everything (I think) that has something to do with NES...
So lately I've been thinking about selling my SNES, N64 and GC collection
I've got about 100 CIB games (PAL) for each systems including most of all the hard to get games. And half of all my GC games are still sealed.
All this just to buy more NES stuff (and to afford to beat Braveheart at eBay
).
How much will I regret this? I've got a fulltime hobby for many years to obtain ALL NES, so it isn't like I'll finnish up my collection in a couple of years.
I'll keep one of each system and a handful of games I think I will play.
But before this happen, I can sell about 300-500 games and 40 systems, (but... it's just that it's easier to sell my CIB Nintendos - and I'll get more money).
So, any advice?

Do it if you want to do it. If you enjoy keeping them, keep them.
Selling stuff just to buy more NES stuff is dumb, IMO. You'll get everything eventually. It just takes time. You'll make more money in the future.
I don't collect SNES and N64 so much but I don't intend on selling either system or the games I got.
Is your risk of regret worth the joy in the reward. That's for you to decide
