Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

I just beat it.  I thought it was a great game.  I am a HUGE Castlevania fan and at first i was like "oh its just another Prince of Persia/Devil May cry game.  But as it went on it got more of a Castlevania feel to it.  A lot of references to the other games.  And the end (not gunna spoil anything) was pretty much what i was hoping for. Fantastic, then they threw a twist in that left me scratching my head going "whaaaaa?"

  • It's in layaway right now!

P.S.: Thanks for no spoilers... I almost didn't click the thread haha
  • ya im playing it at the moment. i really love it also, huge Castlevania fan since I can remember. Im really taking my time with it as I usually do with games and enjoying it big time in the process. To be honest this is the first xbox 360 game i have played besides Street Fighter 4 which was why I got a 360. The graphics and visuals in Castlevania are amazing. beautiful landscapes
  • Piss on this game, framerate issues when attacking WTF! If I want to play Atari, I will ummmm go play Atari!
  • I have debated on buying this game, But with the way you guys are talking about it I think i am going to pick it up on 360.
  • I got this for PS3 (havent noticed any framerate issues) - I love it. Though to be honest, it doesnt feel like a Castlevania game...However, if this is a reboot of the franchise, I can see it going good places. I did like Lament of Innocence and Curse Of Darkness though, but this blows them out of the water.
  • Pretty good game so far. I pre-ordered it but haven't played a bunch of it yet. So far it doesn't really feel like a castlevania game though.
  • My only reservation about it is it looks like a bunch of others games mashed together. That's not really a game breaker though. I loved Darksiders and that was a bunch of elements of great games put together in one. I just want this to FEEL like a Castlevania game, even if the main character looks like he should be in Assassin's Creed. The game does look visually stunning from the reviews I've seen.
  • I'm currently playing through this amazing game. My favorite is still SOTN but I'm really enjoying this one. I hear a lot of "The new castlevania is just like...." but just think of all games that have copied Castlevania over the years. If you own a PS3 or 360 you owe it to yourself to try Lords of Shadow.
  • I started playing this nearly a week ago and I like it so far. The visuals are really amazing.

You may have awesome taste in Music because Slayer is the shizzle, however your taste in video games is terrible if you say this pile of wet turds in good.

  • So far everyone else who posted here said they liked the game - does that mean they all have bad taste? image Are you playing on PS3 or 360?

lol!  I havent gotten much farther in the game to make a full judgement.  If this tells you anything ive had it since the day it was released and have maybe put 3 hours into it. ha.

  • Yeah i'll admit the first part of the game was kinda blah. But then it started to pick up traces of a Castlevania game and i couldn't put it down. I think calling this game shit is waaaay wrong. If you gave it the time of day and actually played through it and actually read everything youll understand it. But if you dont take the time to read then maybe thats why you dont like it. But then again, if you arent going to read whats going on then why play it in the first place?

The game is hard as shit and I only played it on normal.
    Graphics are amazing.
A ton of replay value, hidden stuff, unlockables, secret achievements.

Overall i give it an 8/10

And yes it is a rebooting of the series. So don't let the ending confuse you.
  • Anyone else finish this game? After taking a few weeks off from playing it, I picked it up again the other day and am slowly working my way through.. I made it to chapter 7 last night. Sheesh, will this game ever end?

I think im still on like Chapter 3.  I only put a little bit of time into it than got side tracked for a few weeks.  Now that Fable 3 is out thats been taking up all of my gaming time.  Im hoping someday to get back to Lords of Shadow though.  lol.
  • Just beat it last night. I was a little disappointed with the game at first (even though I liked it), but I have to say that it steadily improved throughout the game, and now that it is over I am really pleased with the game as a whole. I love having more storyline in the game, the graphics are amazing, the music is awesome, and while the combat seems a little repetitive at first, as you move through the game you get numerous different moves and powers.

I wish there were more types of enemies throughout the game, and I got really annoyed with the stupid Chupacabras (if you've played it you know what I mean, heh), but I have to say it was a really solid game. And I'm nowhere near 100% completion.

Yeah, i noticed when i would complete a stage sometimes i would only have like 8%-30% complete.

    Another
huge issue is my 360 is hooked to a tube TV.  Ive never had as much
trouble reading the text as i do with Lords of Shadow.  Must be the
font that is used or something which is really killing the game for me
    too.

Yeah, same here. Not only would things be easier to read, but I bet this game looks amazing on a HD set too.
  • From what I played as far as the first part of the game on my PS3, Lords of Shadow doesn't feel like a Castlevania game, but feels more like God of War type game than any previous Castlevania games for a 3D engine. It's not bad, but I'm hooked into playing my SNES Jr. and top-loader right now. BTW, the cinematics of the game on 1080i looks awesome!

    IKNORITE?! XD

  • Been playing through this again after not playing it for like 4 months now. I still say it borrows waayyyyy too heavily from other games, but it's like I stated earlier with Darksiders. Not really something unique, but it's still fun as hell. I'll have to finish through this to see how it compares as a Castlevania title, as opposed to "good modern action game"
  • My only issue is that they took a game called Lords of Shadow, and said "hey, let's slap the Castlevania logo on it and it'll sell better!" during the quarterly meeting. It's not a bad game by any means, I rather enjoyed what I played of it, but this in no way reminds me of a Castlevania game. There's alot of quality games in the hack n slash variety out there these days and this game mimics most of the highlights but all I'm gonna say is, I see what they did here and I think it's lazy bullshit.
  • I beat it yesterday. It's a good game. Not very much like previous titles in the series, but it still works as a Castlevania game.
