So i managed to make another little project out of pixel blocks...
My girlfriends sister should be having a baby with the day and then Ill have a little "nephew" (not official mind you). I decided to make him something to give to him on his birth day. so here what it is...
its designed to hang off a large suction cup in his bed room window. My bro in law ( father of the baby ) was over last night to play some old games. He saw the pixel block stained glass i had made and was blown away, he must have taken 10 pics on his iphone. So im sure hes gonna love this Link also. The yarn holding the piece up was braided by my girlfriend.. so I guess its a gift from both of us. We can only hope the little tyke will be playing his first video game on the NES. (actually Ill make sure of that he he he)
Great job! Any reason for the multi-colored background? A simpler tone or just a dark one that was more even would make the figures pop more. Maybe with less objects here and there.
AceEbb - they are designed to be slid into each other horizontally no glue involved at all
Stan - I have seen a ton of stain glass and tried to base this on that. Sometimes it looks like there is a lot going on. The background is actually all related to nes games and not just multi-colored. Also the kits the pixel blocks come in are all different colors. I had no way of getting one tone or a specific color. For this reason I was often at a road block due to lack of colors. I literally had to count pixels then count the number of blocks I had left to see if i could build it. If I had unlimited blocks I sure this would have been totally different. Pictures do not do this justice, the only real way to see its beauty is to see it in person.
Wow LOL I cannot believe it, I sent my photos into Nintendo Power right after I originally started this thread. I could not be more thrilled to see this in the back of this months issue. Thank you acomicbookguy for the heads up.
Holy shit dude! That is awesome! I'm gonna head out tomorrow and buy this copy of Nintendo Power. I told you that big ensemble piece was freakin' beautiful. I guess the editors at NP agreed. Good job. You've now been immortalized in the pages of Nintendo Power. How does that feel?
^^ I feel fucking great, I bought 4 issues. Gonna cut the page out and frame it and then frame the issue itself. I have one just to read and the other will go to work tomorrow so everyone can make fun of me lol
Bump for a great thread. I just want to say that I saw this artwork in real life earlier tonight and it looks even more amazing when you can get the full effect of the 3-D, I was very impressed. Congrats Dean.

ETA: Curious since I'm not familiar with pixelblocks... how do you get them to each other adhere horizontally?

GREAT JOB! but why didn't you made a commercial for NA?? hehehe, JK. Congratulations man.
hey dude i did when I sent in the pics, I mentioned many times about the community of NA but I guess he left it all out
Amazing work Dean, that's really, really cool. The best part is how much you seem to have enjoyed working on this project.
