On an unrelated note: why did NES carts were made way bigger than the Famicom ones? Such a waste of plastic! Though Famicom carts lool cheaper...
The objective was to make NES stuff look like hi-fi AV equipment and less like video games.
Also the hardware could have something to do with it as well. Some of the Famicom cartridges were different sizes, because the boards started getting to big to be contained in the little Famicom case. Also Nintendo didn't have enough games to do a U.S. launch so they used Famicom games with an added U.S. adapter, that made the games bigger. Don't know if Nintendo knew all these things before they started designing the U.S. look, but it is a possibility.
I like the NES cartridges, probably because that is what I grew up with. They are also so iconic and retro. Anyone could see the silhouette of a NES cartridge and tell you what it is, SNES and N64, not so much.
How about Tengen games.. those look awesome. Hard to pull out of your NES though.
Im gonna have to vote SNES now. I just took some out of the closet, and realized they look pretty sweet. I also realized that all of the Nintendo carts employ some design elements of their respective systems. NES carts with the console top vent mimicked in the cart, the general shape of the SNES integrated into the snes cart, and the N64 carts are nicely curved like the console itself. Nice work, Big N! *wonders why I never noticed this before*

PAL SNES are pretty slick but I hate that they don't have the top label. I wish you would have had Neo Geo carts to choose from as well.
