Was playing my awesome Vs. Super Mario Bros. reproduction from Bunnyboy and noticed this in 3-3. Why's that there? Shows up every time I get to 3-3. Yeah I know I need to clean my TV.
Maybe Mario is getting too into trying to save the princess? He's tried for two games now to save this bitch, maybe now he's like "screw this, THIS ENDS"

Yep, Vs. SMB not SMB 2j. In any case it's not a problem for me, and I certainly won't be sending it back demanding a fix or a refund. I just found it curious so I posted it. Honestly because of my inexperience with the game I initially thought it was supposed to be there. It wasn't til after I posted that i realized it was a minor glitch.
Pretty sure I got this fixed! Changed some data that I shouldn't have... It should only affect the background in those 3 few areas, not any of the gameplay. However if anyone has a cart they want fixed they can email me to get the info.
All carts shipped out starting Monday will have this fixed.
It's the arcade version of Super Mario Bros. Different level, enemy and item layouts etc. Bunnyboy Was able to put it on an NES cart and sells it on his site.
Hahahhaha, all I can say is I think this is a fantastic bug. and you know that people are going to try and buy the bugged version (BK variant saga, anyone?). I'm so glad Brian already shipped mine out !

I've already locked mine away so I can one day sell it off and retire to my own private island.
Instead of offering a replacement, maybe Brian can offer the corrected version to purchasers of the bugged version at a discount? Just a thought my wallet had .

I played through the game without warping and it appeared in 3-3, 6-1 and a few times in 6-2. One time it says "This Ends Your Trip". Haha
Yeah, we just played through and got the same messages in 6-2. The funny thing is, if you die in level 6-2, the message changes locations. We got "this ends" in different places depending where we died. The "This ends your trip" message was always in the same place, BUT ONLY AFTER YOU COME UP THE PIPE FROM THE WATER WORLD No biggie..still a fun game...and I too will not be sending it back. So much fun... Here are some more pics we could snap. The absence of a pause button really messes with you...

It happened both ways. Going level by level or warping. It also appears at the midway point if you happen to die in the level.
