Anyone get Goldeneye on Wii yet?
Goldeneye on N64 will always be my favorite game ever, so of course I was skeptical when I heard about the remake. I figured it would fall way short and just earn a ton of sales based on the name alone. I was expecting a 6-7ish game out of 10.
Most of the reviews I've read have put it at 8.5-9 / 10 and it's definitely earning my interest. They say if you go into this game expecting a new adventure and appreciate all of the references to the original, you'll love it. But if you go into it expecting the original adventure then you'll be disappointed.
I'm thinking about picking it up after work even if I don't have a ton of time to play it this week. Anyone here already got a copy?

Let us know what you think Jone!
I heard there is no voice chat for online which is a bummer. When you have team based game types how are you supposed to plan to grab the flag or the objective?
Yeah I read this as well... but honestly when I played Halo Reach for 3-4 weeks, my mic was always on mute. Though I will admit I'm not the most social person and don't mind playing in silence with the surround sound turned up.
No Pierce Brosnan, no Goldeneye.
This.

I agree 100% I'll just go play the original.
So is the bundle with the Gold controller an LE bundle, or is that how all of them are going to be shipped, like Wii Play and the remote?
LE bundle, you can get the stand alone game for $50. I believe the bundle is $70.

Ah well, if it's an LE Goldeneye bundle, then there's pretty much no way I won't pick it up. I needed a classic controller anyway. If any Canadians are wondering, the bundle is $74.99 up here... I just called EB Games and checked.
I want the golden controller, but I don't care too much for the game. I'm not gonna pay $70 for a controller though.
I hear ya there...I just had the thing in my hand at target, but could not pay that much $$ for a game I would rarely play...
downloaded it the other day. the reviews are right, expect slow frame rates w a lot of craziness going on on the screen. just like the original i guess they kept that part true, unintentionally.

Same here, i think i'll just wait and pick up the controller on ebay or somewhere.
Sonic Colors
Have you seen the preorder item for this game? It's one of the coolest preorder items I've seen in a while.

Yeah, I am thinking about it, but K-Mart is having this deal where you get $15 coupon for my next purchase. I already got a $20 K-Mart gaming coupon for buying Kirby. I plan on getting this game with whatever deals going on.
Also, Shame on people who want Pierce in it. Pierce no longer wants to do 007, so this is more of a reimagining, as if it was an alternate story, using Daniel Craig as Bond. I tried the game myself and it's fun. Much better controls (Classic), Visuals may not be groundbreaking, but for the Wii, it looks great, and it's something people should own. This is the DEFINITIVE FPS game on the Wii. Can't wait until it's mine!
Pros:
- Has more of a Bond movie feel than the N64 version. Cutscenes and action scenes (press A now, like RE5) actually move the story along pretty well.
- Ability to beat levels with stealth or force (at least on easy). If you want to run and gun you can, or if you want to crouch and go undetected, you can do that too.
- The smartphone... great replacement over the watch and makes sense with today's culture.
- The subdue feature, feel perfectly at home in a Bond game.
Cons:
- Screen blurs when reloading (background only, foreground remains clear), so you might not want to reload as frequently as usual. I guess this is meant to simulate how one would shift their focus to the gun barrel when reloading... but it seems pretty stupid in execution.
- Killing enemies from behind cover is way too easy. You basically pop up and "lock on" to a target.
- Plays like "Goldeneye of Duty", complete with checkpoints, down the barrel aiming, sprinting, etc. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but the control mechanics are not what you'd expect in a GE game.
So far it's definitely holding my attention enough to want to beat it and look forward to the next mission. I'll have to see if the multiplayer has that same appeal as well.
So how does it hold as an FPS in general? Best FPS on Wii? How is it compared to any FPS?
