Poll of the Day (12/03/07)

Going through a nasty time with the Home Theater items that I bought last week...

Basically I'm getting the $5000 ass raping, and they won't even throw in a reach around!

Don't sell me something that isn't in stock... then make me wait a week for everything, then only delivery one peice of it and sell my other stuff to someone else...

All I can say is... it had better be here tonight and you'd better be throwin' in more than just that HDMI cable!

  • Yes, when I was a new eBay user, I decided to buy a sword for my groomsman in my wedding. He really liked The Lord of the Rings, so I decided to buy him an official replica of Aragorn's sword (Anduril). The cheapest ones on eBay were for "preorders", so I bought one that said it would come available in a month.

After a month passed, I contacted the seller, and they told me their shipment had been delayed. Unfortunately, this meant the sword wouldn't be able to arrive in time for my wedding. I kept pestering and eventually threatening the seller, and they kept stringing me along with promises, eventually promising that they would give me a spare one they had since the shipment was so late.

Of course, I never got the sword, and by the time I had lost hope in the seller coming through, it was after the 45 or 60 days or whatever it is within which you had to file a PayPal dispute. So, I was out $180 bucks, and the seller was long gone.

Thankfully, I've never been scammed on eBay since then, but that was a pretty bad way to get started. Now I know better than to bid on a preorder auction from a seller with no feedback. :-\

  • Never had any problems like that..

    I guess I've been lucky..

  • I was screwed out of 165 bucks on ebay from a douchebag. God I hate that fucker. I was a few years ago though.

  • I've gotten stuck with a handful of reseals here and there. Few and far between (I try to be pretty careful) but sometimes shit happens... its a shitty feeling paying $200 for $20 game wrapped in 5c worth of new plastic. I'd say I've been stuck with maybe $800 worth over the past five years.... nothing in the last two years or so thankfully.
  • Steve McFadden hosed me. Some day I'm road tripping to Green Acres Floriday to kick his ass.
  • i've only been ripped off for small things here and there, but everytime pay-pal has my back, so i've never actually been out any money image
  • I bought an out of print vinyl from a store overseas. They said they had one in stock. Of course, it turns out they were on backorder, but they never responded to any of my emails. I never got the item. It was only $50 or so, but it still sucks.
  • Gotta love them prototypes. Its cool though, I'm over it.

*Runs and smashes face off wall while crying*.

In all seriousness, most people read about when I got burnt on the Bubble Bobble 2 and Panic Restaurant protos. It sucks, but the guy didn't run off with my cash, he just sold them elsewhere for a huge mark up.
  • What exactly is a big ticket item?  Is that like store discount from buying lots of games?  Or what?  Only time i remember being ripped off is when my friend got be a few 5 dollar gift cards to game junkie.  I hate game junkie.  They open all their new games and take the game out then reseal the box.  They also take prices and add an extra $5 or $10 to it.

Also one time on ebay when i was still collecting, i bought my first copy of hot slots.  It cost me almost 400.  The guy never offered insurance and the game was stolen in the mail.  I got an envelope with a dust sleeve in it.  That was all.  The worst part was that my dad paid for that game for me since i was trying to make some money from work.
  • Big Ticket = Expensive (high value item)
  • Edited post. I said something that didn't need to be said...
