Bitch and complain or let it be

Ok, I won this auction a while back and just got it today.

This is a reseal. Now the auction says sealed but doesn't say factory sealed. I actually won the auction assuming it was a reseal and was holding out hope that it wasn't. I needed the box and manual anyways so I'm perfectly happy with the item as it is in great shape.

Do I bitch and cry or let it be.

  • You should definitely bitch about it. I hate when people do tricky things in their auctions. Kind of like when people were taking pictures of PAL Stadium Events with dust covers on them trying to hide the fact that it was PAL. I hate when people are tricky.
  • Unfortunately your options are limited to trying to weasel something out of the seller (not likely) or filing a complaint with paypal (only likely to work if you claim you didn't receive it and the delivery confirmation wasn't scanned/purchased).

Personally I think $10+shipping for this game CIB is fine, looks like it's in good shape. But might as well cry a little to the seller. Never hurts and it's free image

We just had a family come into the local game shop today and bought a Game Gear for $24.99. Lucky them, although it was at regular price, this one had come in with:

    1 hard case w/strap

6 games: Pac-Man, etc etc commons

    1 Battery chargepak

They came back 2 minutes complaining there was no adapter for the charger and wanted a discount. They got all of that stuff for free, $35 worth of games and accessories, and could still use AA batteries to power the unit, but they were griping because there wasn't an adapter with the free accessory.

    BUT

Why not! Griping is free and the employees are paid to be there and take your crap image
  • I got my chopsticks but they didn't come with M&M's to eat them with. Wahhh.

    lol
  • ya, I'm probably gonna just let it be. After all I was expecting a reseal when I bought it and didnt ever ask for more pics. I just paid what I thought a nice CIB was worth and hoped I was getting more. Either way I would have paid what I paid for what I got so I'm not upset about it. Now if I paid a premium or had expected a sealed copy it would be a different story.

  • you can still send a message letting him know that you were a little bit upset that it didn't arrive factory sealed.
  • I'd let him know and that he risks his reputation by not being fully honest
  • box looks in pretty good shape I might let the guy know it was a resealed game and see if he mentioned it in future auctions...then again not everyones is as crazy into nes and most prople wouldnt know what a factory sealed wrap would look like. If I found games for other systems in the plastic I would assume it was factory seled.
  • Let it be man, you have to ask about the factory sealed lines on the back and the sides.  If you don't it's kind of your fault.  Some people are ignorant as to what a factory sealed game is, and you have to be sure before you buy it.

Exactly.  It didn't say factory sealed, it only said sealed.  When I see auctions like this, I always send a message asking if it has the H-seam.
  • I have similar problems with assumptions sometimes when buying stuff, especially on eBay...I tend to assume people package well, and that an added note in PayPal payments + eBay questions regarding how to ship the purchased items will usually take care of it, but yet I always tend to be proven wrong whenever I get comfortable again....and it always seems to be from either French, Spanish, or Italian sellers (and I should also include sellers from the French-speaking part of Belgium as well, coincidentally). I don't know if they're lazy, lack the spatial reasoning to realize that putting a large boxed accessory in simply bubblewrap or an extremely thin box or piece of paper will not protect the original box from damage during shipping, or if it's part of their postal service or personal standards, but most of the stuff I get from those locations have really, really shitty packaging. I hadn't ordered any accessories from France in about 6 months, and now I ordered multiple at once and they were all packaged real shitty. I sent the sellers messages about it, but I doubt I'll be getting anything back as these went for quite cheap on eBay...it's the shipping that tends to add up in costs, and I just can't believe that these people are unable to realize that when someone pays more than usual for shipping, that that person expects some decent packaging at the very least (especially when it does not lead to an increased shipping cost). I guess I'm just venting, but it can get really annoying when I specifically add a few sentences about good packaging in each PayPal payment and in every question for shipping cost, and to have the requests seemingly ignored on a frequent basis by sellers from those regions...
