Favorite Virtual Boy Game

Back to Nintendo this week!
We all know and love the Virtual Boy.
The awkard position you need to be in to play it...
The brain-damaging headaches it causes...
The gigantic library of games to play on it...
Speaking of the games, which is your favorite?

Last Week's Poll: Favorite Sonic Genesis Game

Winner: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Runner Up: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
Dead Last: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 & Knuckles
Wow... Sonic 3D Blast didn't finish last. (Although beating the Sonic 2 with Knuckles is pretty hard.)

  • I'd imagine Wario Land wins this hands down as a game.
  • I'm always kind of liked Mario Clash. It was just... Different.
  • VERTICAL Force for me.
  • ^ Good catch. Guess I'm still not quite awake! lol
  • I've never played Virtual Boy, so I can't vote!
  • Knowing I got the good old "Migraine in the Box", I would say Wario Land from what I played.
  • Virtual League Baseball was always fun to me.
  • I think most will agree Wario, as I would. Though Vertical Force and Mario Clash come in second and third for me.
  • Red Alarm = the best shooter of its kind that's not Star Fox.
  • I love playing Wario Land on my VB, but only for short periods of time image
  • Voted Wario Land... great game!
  • You know, I have a complete set (including the Jap games) and I still don't have a VB...? WTF.
  • I like mario clash that was a fun game.

I actually had to double check after reading it. Thought for a minute I'd been calling it by the wrong name all these years.
  • Wario Land gets my vote.
  • I put Mario Clash. My original system when it came out I just had Tennis, Red Alarm, Mario and 3DTetris. I had another some years ago I had to ditch due to cash/moving and I then had Tennis, Wario Land, Red Alarm, V-Tetris, Boxing, Pinball, Panic Bomber, Baseball and Vertical Force. So I've tried a good many.

I got a used one (visor is a little messed) free recently and it had Tennis again and Red Alarm, and once it gets here from skulldeath I got 6 more being Golf(new to me!), Baseball, Mario Clash, Wario, Boxing, Pinball, and Baseball. So short of the hardest to find VB USA and much of the JP stuff I've done a lot.

Mario Clash I feel I put the most time into and enjoyed a lot, but also Red Alarm was a close second. I got Wario that 2nd time around and it was pretty fun but it didn't stand out as much for replay value as those other two. I got to wonder how much I'll put into times/hours on that golf game as it's new to me.
  • I loved the 3D effects in Galactic Pinball. Also it was a lot of fun playing trying to beat friends scores.
  • Wario Land is by far the best game for it. But I played a TON of Teleroboxer.
  • This is making me want to open my sealed games just to try them out haha
  • I've hit the proverbial wall here on VB stuff by my memory, the wall of that anything I want from this point forward is now in that $20+ range with 8 of the 14 USA releases and none from Japan that aren't already US releases except for V-Tetris as it's a cheapie.
  • I've got to go with the obvious, Wario Land.

A really solid game and a lot of fun to play. Though to be fair, I haven't given the other games as much love as I would like. I really need to sit down and give Jack Brothers and a few others a playthrough.

What's really surprising is the two votes so far for Waterworld.
  • Wario Land is fun, if only it could be re-released through WiiWare or something, take out the second screen, thus no headaches or eye strain.
  • I would have to not vote here because I have never actually played a Virtual Boy.
  • I can't believe there are so many people on NA who haven't played a Virtual Boy before.

I really hope they come out with a Virtual Boy Collection for the 3DS...
  • I hope to check out a friend of mine's when I visit his house again. Maybe it wont give me a headache.
  • Never got headaches from playing Virtual Boy but I do get a feeling of being "drained" or "tired" after a longer session. Kind of like the feeling of staring at a computer screen for a long time.

I voted for Wario. A great game.
  • I never got headaches from it either, and I used to play it for hours at a time. These days though, since my eyesight has gotten worse, it's been harder to play it without squinting. I think it's time to get glasses.
  • As someone already said, let's hope for once Nintendo gets a good idea when it comes to old stuff and we see a VB section to their 3ds virtual console, or better yet, shove the whole damn lot of them (only 12 in the usa anyway or was it 14?) on a 3DS cart as-is in red/black glory and perhaps a modern 'colorized' version as the system is made for this stuff.

    That's actually a pretty damn-good idea. image
  • Galactic Pinball, Hands down. I remember rolling through batteries playing that game when I went camping or on the dock at our place in Michigan at night. GOOD TIMES.
