Looking for GB Advanced Puzzle Games

I do not own a Nintendo DS, so I know very little about it.

I bought one for my mother who loves playing puzzle games.  I'm pretty certain that I bought her all of the available puzzle games for the DS.

I've just learned that yu can play GB Advanced games on a DS.

Can anyone give me a few GB Advanced titles that are similar to the DS Game 'Travel Games for Dummies?'

These are the kind of games that she is into.

Thanks!

  • No one can help me out with any titles?  Just need to know opinions of what is out there...
  • I'd love to help, I'm just not sure what Travel Games For Dummies is, so I can't really compare it to anything...
  • Dr. Mario/ Puzzle League is the best recommendation I can make. It's terrific. It's Dr. Mario and Puzzle League (also known as Tetris Attack, Panel De Pon and Pokemon Puzzle League) on one cart.
  • Yeah that game for dummies threw me which is why I stayed out of this. I mean yeah Dr Mario/Puzzle League is a given, also Polarium Advance (ds version of the same game) is another. There are those Tetris titles, but ugh they sucked and you'd be best grabbing just launch day Tetris unless you're into bugs and bad design decisions. Puyo Puyo is another decent one that showed up on the GBA, as did from Sega Columns Crown.
  • agreed with the above as far as Polarium Advance, Dr. Mario/Puzzle League, and Puyo Pop go. Columns Crown is decent as well. I'd also mention that Super Puzzle Fighter II is my favorite GBA puzzle game (and probably favorite puzzle game period). As you mentioned playing GBA on the DS, then you can't get old school GB Tetris, so Tetris Worlds will be your best best. It does kind of suck, but there's a code to unlock "Classic Tetris" in it. ChuChu Rocket is also brilliant, as is Mr. Driller 2. There are also ports of Super Bubble Pop and Super Bust-A-Move worth checking out. That should be plenty to get you started! image
  • ^ As a side note, Super Puzzle Fighter II for GBA is the only GBA game (perhaps the only Nintendo handheld game) where two players can play on one GBA simultaneously!

yeah I did a blog post about that feature a while back actually. Haha. It's a strange setup on a single GBA, but if you play using the GameCube GBPlayer then each player can use their own controller.

  • Thanks for all your suggestions!
  • Wait a second, someone has just suggested that the DS can play GB Advanced games, but didn't know about the DSi or DSi XL's ability to do so.

    Does anyone know for sure?

Can the DSi XL also play GB Advanced games?
  • No DSi, XL or otherwise, can play Game Boy games of any type.

There is no slot for them, hence you can't play Guitar Hero DS either.

(Man, seriously... Google, Wikipedia, etc. Why is that so hard? Why can nobody actually look up information on their own? I don't get it...)
