  • Final fantasy IV if you don't already have it on the SNES or Final fantasy tactics A2
  • Final Fantasy III if we're talking the RPG style, the 4th one is broken as far as I'm concerned or should anyone who has played any previous version. They set it so all bosses need you to attack 100% on a set pattern and if you break it, you get this huge bitchslapping that does most your health if not death...worse yet some dungeons have a random enemy that will do it too. Mostly well sucks the fun out of the game when rpg combat is reduced to playing a cycle of failure until you learn the pattern and then hope you can follow it (though the random enemy one just uses that 'special' move whenever not turn based which is just going too far.) Challenges are fun, good difficulty is too, but when things are reduced to luck or a memory match game, run away screaming.
  • ^To be fair, all other versions of FFIV were too easy. Also, there is no set pattern you have to follow in battles, other than casting Slow on the enemy/enemies, and buffing your party. It's all about the augments you have, really; they can make a world of difference. And it's strategy like this that makes FFIVDS a really great game, even if it CAN get unbelievably frustrating at times.
  • Well I tried to see the greatness in what I consider the best of all the FF titles, but this version was an atrocity to me. I've done FF2, FF4j 'hard type', the PS1 release, GBA, and the DS one. The DS wins in the a/v dept, and in general combat it's nice too, it's just those stupid irregularities and the forced pattern play on bosses.
  • Play Dragon Quest IX.
  • Mario & Luigi is the best RPG on the DS!
  • Dragon Quest IV. Final Fantasy used to be rad but now... it's...it's not alright *twitch, twitch*
  • Final Fantasy 3 is my favorite Final Fantasy title for the ds. I also plan of trying 4 Heroes Of Light.
  • Whatever you decide......skip the 4 heroes of light. Total crap imo.
  • Final Fantasy IV is the best Final Fantasy on the DS.
  • If it played right I'd agree with that, sadly it isn't so FF3 is the best bet, and it's a new game too outside of Japan.
  • I would get FF3 if it's available for the DS.
  • FF3 since it's only available on the DS outside of Japan and repros. Awesome game too.
  • I'd go with Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, personally.
Then get Chrono Trigger with it.

I see it often enough at retail new still for $20, came out a few years ago at $40 so it's a good grab now.  Years ago I got it free(gift) from my mom for b'day or christmas, and back then they had this badass white squishy velcro flap top ds pouch that has a black faux leather band at the top with FINAL FANTASY III raised off it with white rubber or something.  It still serves me well. image
  • If you have a regular DS or DS Lite.......grab FF6 for the Advance. Unless of course you already have 3 on the SNES.
  • Chrono Trigger!
  • i wound up getting ff1 & 2 for the advance and ff3 for the ds. i grabbed ff3 off ebay for 7.50 cib.
  • Wow nice job on that. 7.50 is very good for a price on that game complete.
