Forget Donkey Kong: Ape Escape is where its at!

I have recently become a fan of the Ape Escape games. It suprises me that this series, which arguably started off as being very successful in the US (with the first reaching Greatest Hits status) has gradually become overshadowed to the point where several of the entries have been japan-only as of late and the others have mostly failed to reach Greatest Hits status (save for the PSP remake). Being a first party title, I believe Ape Escape should be the flagship mascot series of the PlayStation! I haven't finished all the games yet but all of the ones I have played so far (AE1, AE3 and AE: Pumped & Primed) have been great. Any other fans here?

  • I remember renting one of them years ago and loving it. I never did buy any of them though.
  • I liked Ape Escape but Tomba destroyed both of them hands down! One of the best sleepers ever on the playstation!
  • This was always a game that I always saw at Blockbuster, but always passed it up.
  • Thanks for the reminder. I got a psone in the mail yesterday and I'm just working my ported over ff9 save. I should look into that (always wanted to try it, never did) and Tomba I see mentioned as well.
  • I still haven't tried Tomba, but it's a largely different kind of platformer than Ape Escape from what I've seen, so, apples and oranges.

    fix'd

But yeah, Toomba was different than anything else and it was incredible at doing it.  Def one of the best underrated PSX games there was.  image
  • Oh I know they're not alike as I remember a very long time ago looking up both.
  • I also played Tomba. I remember it being fun, but I didn't get very far.
  • I remember trying to play a demo of this game when I first got a PS1 but couldn't because I didn't have analog sticks. Lol
