NES games run on a Turbo Grafx.

The Turbo Graphics is a great console that reminds me a lot of the NES and SNES. It's as if it were the NES 1.5. The reason they may feel similar could be due to the fact that they both use a 6502 processor. Cool thing about this is that it makes NES games easy to convert to the TG 16. Some people have done this.

  • Pretty interesting. Would be pretty fun to play a slighty upped version of Mario 3 on it.
  • That's seriously cool. I knew back in the day primary core wise they ran the same basic stuff, but to see this taken to this level that's a slick piece of work, especially that Megaman1 conversion.
  • Hell, my Turbo Grafx 16 runs on a genesis composite cable and a nes RF adapter. Fucking machine is a total slut. I agree that hu card conversions are pretty nifty, although I would much rather find repros of Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi that ran on US consoles without those really expensive region convertors.

Doesn't the Atari 2600 run on a 6507 which is basically a weak version of the 6502, so maybe the TG16 is a suped-up version of the Atari 2600, not a NES 1.5. Atari 2600 2.0. hmmm, hmmm, think about it.

  • ^^that logic would make the c64 about equal to the nes. No the tg16 is a suped-up version of the nes in terms of the ppu being sorta similair etc. Same cpu etc. (well basicly the same cpu) Also rumour has it that it was originally passed to nintendo as a succesor to the nes.
  • Thats pretty awesome

I remember a few years ago there was a SuperCD floating around that had all the NA TG-16 games on it and would load form the CD via a basic menu system. I downloaded it and it worked. But I cant seem to find the source of it on google now.

But this would be awesome if we could do the same with these games.
