Game of the Year 2010

Just curious what everyones favorite game this year has been for the current generation consoles. What do you think will get game of the year?

So far I'd say Red Dead Redemption but I just started Fallout New Vegas so my vote may change.

  • Starcraft II even though it's not on consoles, best game of the year.
  • Reach..simply by numbers it has to be close
  • Probably Limbo. It was short, but I had a blast with it.

Black ops sold more, they both were a moderate let down in my book
  • Yeah not looking for sales figures, wondering what you would vote for as game of the year. Personal Opinion not mass appeal. been meaning to try Limbo just havent yet.

    Runner Ups:

    Yakuza 3

    Fixed
  • lol fair enough, and if halo reach gets game of the year for now on i am only playing VB games
  • o ya and i forgot to say my #2 vote is for dkcR
  • Mass effect 2 easy
  • Galaxy 2 for me. I love the chase for the stars ever since the 64 days!
  • Even though I'm more of an Xbox guy myself, I have to go with Galaxy 2. That game really was about as perfect as a Mario game could be IMO.

My other vote would be for Dead Rising 2. But that's more of a cult following and doesn't get massive appeal. Though it did sell at least 1.5 million I believe.
  • I see a lot of votes for Galaxy 2...I'm only part-way through the first Galaxy right now. I just got back into current-gen gaming not long ago, and I think Galaxy is one of the best games I've ever played, period. Is Galaxy 2 even a step better than the first?
  • I didn't get a pre-order in, so maybe it doesn't count for this year for me, but from the 2 year old videos, Pier Solar will blow anything out of the water compared to what else I want.
  • Personally, I would have to say 3D Dot Game Heroes.
  • Galaxy 2 so far, NBA Jam 2nd (or at least the best sports game of the year). I really hope to get DKCReturns befor the year is out and I wanna play the new Kirby as well.
  • Im gonna try some Borderlands co op tonight I think. I thinks its a vintage 2009 game though.

New Vegas is really fun especially if you liked Fallout 3. Its essentially the same.
  • Dragon Quest IX. Yeah... I'm a fanboy.

Yes, as a matter of fact, if you played Galaxy 2 first, then then original Galaxy would possibly seem unplayable.  It's not that Galaxy 1 is bad, it's just that Galaxy 2 epitomizes what a Wii Mario game should be.
  • I know they're very different styles of play, but how do the Galaxy games compare to New Super Mario Bros. Wii? That's the only Mario title on the Wii I've given a whirl. I thought it was fairly good, but after playing 64 and Sunshine, it wasn't quite what I was hoping for.

Mass Effect 2, because it gave me the chills video games use to give me years ago. I'm on my second play-through now (insanity).

I wish that I had a PS3 so I could have jumped on this game.  Instead I just have a banner for the game.

My vote would be Super Mario Wii... shit!  That was released last year.  Which means, I haven't bought a new game all year.

Oh well, the year isn't over and Super Mario All-Stars is coming out next Sunday...

I've played through both completely and while NSMB Wii is fun and engaging, it is too easy. MG2 is just simply amazing and is pretty much what I always hoped Mario would be. I do love the first one too but like Jone said, the sequel brought it all together.

  • Personally: Dead Rising 2. I'm a fanboi, so sue me.

Read Dead Redemption gets my pick. The really big blockbusters (Black Ops, Reach, ME2, Vegas) just didn't grab me. I haven't played Galaxy 2 or enough DKCR to make a choice there though I'd readily believe Galaxy 2 is awesome enough to take it, sight-unseen.

I thought Red Dead Redemption was really good. It's one of the few modern games I've played all year in fact.  I usually wait a year for the prices to come WAY down. Red Dead was pretty awesome, movie quality dialogue and some really great set pieces really made me feel like I was playing in a western. I'd say that's my pick more or less by default but I recommend it.

  • The game I played the most this year was 3D Dot Game Heroes.
