That is not even cool. I cant imagine someone would do that.

I recently drove quite some distance to check ut a craigslist ad for some "big collection" that had some pretty rad items I've wanted including a Magnavox Odyssey 2 box.
When I got there, the guy was standing outside at his garage, and I walked up to the big boxes he had stationed on his driveway. He told me his father had become sick in the 90's and got into video games as he was mostly bedridden. When his father had died recently, he decided to sell of the games so he could move without them.
When I started rifling through the boxes, I started getting really excited, because the collection was all over the place, with lots of n64 games in box, and many years of releases, though the PS1 and Dreamcast games were mostly rental cases.
Eventually, I noticed that there was a ton of junk and only a few decent titles. The guy noticed I was dissapointed and decided to mention that he had already let THREE other people sift through the collection whom had walked away with a lot of games. I did alright in the end by just buying the whole lot(with a lot of subsequent ebay selling), but when I got home I saw Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune for SNES in the PS1 box and I realized that I had only seen the tip of the iceberg.
A few years ago, back when I did not collect and didn't know rarity of games, I sold a Zelda Collector's Edition to GameStop. My step dad realized it was rare before they bought it for ten, and made them bump up the price to 30 or something. I don't know, but it was not THAT rare because it was game only. I found it in a random gamecube box, if I recall. I want it back though!!!
$30 for disc only is actually really damn good, lol, especially from Gamestop. It's only a bit more than that on ebay for a COMPLETE copy. I don't think you'd even get $30 disc only trying to ebay it.
A few months ago I spotted a boxed Virtual Boy on CL "For Offer", I sent the guy an offer of $40, and he accepted right away and sends me his address. I show up to his house the next day at the scheduled time, and he tells me he sold it to another guy for 50 bucks and "forgot" to tell me about it.

What a jerk. It seems like every time theres a good deal on CL something like that happens.

Ah, you know... peaks & valleys. I've gotten some nice deals on CL, some people have integrity.
On December 16th I saw a Craigslist ad posted on December 9th in a city about hour away for 3 Nintendo games for $5 each. Two of them were dirt commons and one was Panic Restaurant! I emailed them but never got a reply and the ad was taken down a couple days after.
When I wasn't really 'collecting', I was looking up NES games 10 years ago, and their prices. Saw that Secret Scout (color dreams) was going for a decent amount. It sounded familiar so I went to my local game store and, sure enough, they had it for $5. I bought it, sold it for $20 thinking I got a great deal. Now that I'm collecting, I wish I would've kept it for myself.
bought a 60$ gamecube lot off craiglists with 2 windwakers, RE4, double dash, twilight princess, some others and a gamecube. Seller lied about saying they all worked fine. I should have examined the backs before paying because only like 3 games in the lot work at all. Maybe gamestop can resurface them or whatever they do
Okay now to make it worse, they guy relists both Mega Man's at $15 apiece because someone told them they were worth more. I email 15 minutes later, I get a phone call 5 minutes later. Guy says he sold one of the (guess which one) but he'd be happy to sell me Mega Man X. It's like a 45 minute drive for me so I just told him it was cool but I couldn't come all that way for just MMX. Sad panda

Yeah some dudes do that here too, email people to tell them the correct price of their games, shit's so stupid, just because you weren't the first to email doesn't mean you should ruin other's finds

I'm pretty sure that calls for arson.

Sorry. Needed to do that and I'm pretty sure this is the appropriate thread.
I just missed out on an awesome lot with a bunch of rare boxed N64 and SNES games.
Ad was up 25 minutes before I responded and got sold within that time frame
There was Ogre Battle 64, Breath of Fire SNES, Mario RPG SNES and tons of other great stuff it got picked up so fast *tear*
Fucker never responded. When you see them you'll cringe
Two games in there combine for over 600 alone
