And I'm pretty broke atm. I offered her $40 for it crossing my fingers as that's all I could really afford but she said people had emailed her offering $90 for only the games. Bleh.
  • Emailed my brother in Denver about a very nice looking FF2, FF3, Chrono Trigger for $30 about four hours after it was posted... guy already had a buyer.   People must hover over craigslist...

Fucking resellers! Thinking about this poor Jack Bros on Ebay makes me a sad sad panda

  • I'm kind of deviating from the purpose of the thread, but I was in a local game store when I noticed Super Metroid with a 2.50 price tag. I've already got the game, but I like the store a lot and felt that they deserve to thrive because they treat their customers right. So I placed the cart with the 2.50 sticker on the counter and said "What's wrong with this picture?" and he was like "WWoooooooaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!" And bumped it up to 25 bucks.

That actually fits. That guy is sort of an asshole, but you can't really blame him. He just didn't understand and bumped the price up instead of giving it to you for cheaper.

And now I missed the point.
  • These days, I have dreams about finding oddball games, like Zelda for the Atari, LOL!!!  What the hell is with that?
  • No, the guy isn't an asshole, great guy in fact.  I was looking out for him because I love the store and one of his "newer/didn't know about games" employees priced it wrong.  I wasn't looking to buy it, I basically didn't want him to be a "Loser's Weepers."
  • Well, one of my more recent "Losers Weepers," I had an IB FF6 SNES that I was selling to my good friend for what I bought it for (5 bucks). Cheap. I already have a CIB FF6, and his wasn't in as good of condition as my copy and it didn't appear to have the map. And when he opened the instructions to look at them, out fell the map. It was super mint, and the one I have is beat to shit. I was pissed. But its my friend, so whatever. I'll find a better condition map down the line.
  • Not to mention $25 is still a totally fair price for Super Metroid at a game store. Good looking out on your part.
  • I've done that for a store before when I was on vacation, when they had some old black box games with famicom adapters in them marked at the games normal price of a couple bucks. They thanked me for the info I gave them, and gave me a great deal on my purchase. I really liked the store too. Good deals to be had.
  • My worst losers weepers story is ,the time a local retro game store sold a copy of Little Samson for $115 ,Snow Bros for $80,and the store manager told me about this awesome deal about 2 hours after the stuff was traded in and sold already.Oh well you can't win them all ,but at least the same guy traded in Panic Restaurant ,and Power Blade 2 a couple of days later which I bought both for $180 !That sure makes up for the other "lost" deal of a life time!
  • Lost out on a CIB NES Action Set last night on Ebay. Got sniped on with only a few seconds remaining. Would have gotten it for $100 including shipping.
  • One of my Loser's Weepers that I'm still kind of depressed about was a Complete in Box Super Nintendo console that was unpriced, but the clerk was like "I'll sell it to you for 70 bucks trade." And I told him "No, I'll wait for the Manager to get back tomorrow and price that, just in case he wants more for it or something. I don't want to rip you guys off." Went back the next day kind of late in the day, and he was like "Oh, someone just picked that up for 75."

Shoot, I would have offered 75. Not a tremendous deal, but it bummed me out that I wasn't walking home with it that day.
  • I bought pokemon gold with a dead battery for 1$ free shipping but the seller refunded me and canceled the order and asked me to please not make them sell it to me : /

That's BS. Hold them to it, and if they refuse to ship report them to ebay.
  • Well not that I would do it, but if I needed someone too, I would want them to, so I did it for them
  • This one happened a few hours ago and kind of goes with the theme of the thread and kind of doesn't at the same time...

Imagine my excitement this morning when I went to my local flea market and saw this...

Now, imagine my disappointment when I popped it open and it looked like this...

Yup. No cart. Looked everywhere around his table and he said "I dunno...might be in my stuff." So I checked all of his plastic bins and found nothing but old purses and nonsense.

Oh well, I got this and Puss 'n Boots for about 4.50. Just in case I ever run across a reasonably priced cart. So I guess this is a Finder's Weepers?
  • I just had a HUGE craigslist lot go south because he started looking up games on Egay....... Damn interwebz.

That's just not how ebay works. He shouldn't do it, you shouldn't do it, I shouldn't do it, no one should do it. If you list something up for auction that is you saying "I'm totally prepared for this to sell at whatever I set the starting bid at and am entering a binding agreement by ebay's ToS (and possibly even by law, unsure on that) to do so." Renegging on ebay sales is a terrible, terrible practice.

I wouldn't want my games to sell for a buck either, that's why I only list with buy it now prices or set my minimum bid at the lowest I'm willing to take for something.
  • Not sure if this counts but a couple of years ago I saw a listing on Craigslist where someone was selling rare CIB games the ones I remember were Little Samson, Bubblebath Babes, Hot Slots, and Tengen Tetris. When I saw the ad I emailed the seller a couple of times but never received a response I'm not sure if he was just some nut trolling Craigslist or he really had those games and already sold them.

To make you feel better, stuff like that is almost ALWAYS fake. Nine times out of ten if they have a collection like that and aren't willing to post a phone number they're just some troll laughing at the flood of emails coming in.
  • Yeah there was no number or prices just a list of games that said with boxes and instructions but I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't skip a beat when I first saw that.
  • Lost out on this lot locally for $150. Almost looks way overpriced...

    When you see it...
  • ^Damn gray WCW Mayhem...
  • Went into a local thrift store today, was finding nothing but  Xbox spots games for 12-15 each and then at the end of the row mixed in with some DVD's, I see Super Mario Sunshine for the GC.  I take it up to the counter and have the lady open it for me to make sure the disc is there.  No manual, and literally shot disc.  The disc was actually cracked and split from the center out in 4 spots right into the data area of the disc and it was horribly scratched beyond repair.

    Price:  4.99

    doh!
  • I was building a tv stand the other night and missed out on a boxed action set with half a dozen boxed games and another 12-15 good games for $100.

Then the cocksucker that bought it re-listed it for $300 with only half the games. Needless to say, it still hasn't sold. I've seen a few things he's re-listed and they're still there too. Hope he learns his lesson soon and fucks off.
  • I was very surprised to find a copy of .hack Quarantine at one of my Value Villages today. Upon opening it I found it was complete...except for the game. Price was $5.99 but I got it for $3 after I pointed out the missing disc to the cashier. I'm pretty sure the case, manual, and DVD is worth more than $3 anyways, so I'll be on the lookout for a loose copy.

Made up for that with a complete copy of Phantasy Star Online 1&2 Plus at PnT for $40, paid with a gift card. Not complaining today.
  • Missed out on Action 52 for $15.
