If 1/2 of the people I meet at yard sales who told me they will call me once they dig stuff out, or get to their parents house, or ask their brother about those old games...I'd be posting every day on finders keepers. The reality is I'm lucky if 1 out of ten people ever call me. Yesterday, I was at a sale and asked about games, the lady tells me shE has a whole box of stuff her son had but at the last minute her son asked her not to put it out. She allowed me to go through everything to see if I'd be interested in any of it. Let's see, Mario RPGs, zombies ate my neighbors, dkc 1-3, and about 25 other snes games and a gold n64 controller with Mario 64 and donkey kong. Sure I'm interested (especially since she literally begging me to take stuff from her sale for free). Said the son would be there at 12 and would call me once he got there. Of course, I never heard back...it was so depressing to leave a sale knowing I was leaving that all behind.
At least at the next sale. I found a woman who didn't want to sell her nintendo, but was willing to let me look through her games. I pulled out dragon warrior 2, super c, double dragon, krustys Funhouse and MTPO for 10 bucks so that made the weekend a little bette.

I've never had a call back from people I interact with at yard sales. I chalk it up to them simply forgetting/not caring enough to bother to dig out their attic collections.
A minor looser weeper happened to me tonight. I had time to kill in the evening, so I stopped by a thrift store that's usually out of my way. I walk over to the media shelf and I see a distinctive black and white grid pattern. Holy crap, Master System games in the wild! My excitement turned to dissapointment when I noticed all the game boxes were heavily infested with mold. It was so bad the white of the paper inserts had turned to purple. They were all marked at 99 cents, so I thought about buying them up and trashing everything but the carts, but I really didn't want to mix carts stored in that condition into my collection. I ended up leaving them on the shelf for someone more desperate than me to buy.
The only saving grace is none of the games were that rare or pricey. I don't know what I would've done if one of the games was NTSC Sonic or Buster Douglas.

^ This...a milion times this. I finally ended up asking some lady for her phone number so I could call after a few days...she didn't find the stuff she said she had but at least I'm not sitting here wondering if she found it and sold it out from under me.
Also just lost out on my 5th Earthbound...really getting sick of ebay and assholes who want way to much for that game.
Sigh, gets pretty old dealing with people who can't bother to take a decent photo. Bad photos are annoying, no photo is aggravating, and stolen photos are the worst. Jumped on the as it was listed, it shows up today, and of course it's a standard 3-screw cart. Was really looking forward to having one of these
I really don't understand Craigslist most of the time. I'm sure collectively it's comprised of the most unintelligent people on Earth. Most can't even form a complete sentence, and if they do it's ridden with typos. Then the motives/back outs are a whole different story.
Have you ever tried to sell anything on craigslist? It works both ways: people not showing up, people showing up late, indecipherable emails, low-ball offers, endless back-in-forth emails in regards of meeting, people flaking etc.
I have tried to sell a bike on Craiglist and I offered it to the first guy who emailed me. Then an hour later, someone offered $50 more. What would you do in this situation?
You can conduct your business on Craigslist however you'd like to. It sucks sometimes, but it is what it is.

I don't sell anything on Craigslist, anything of worth I put on eBay. The only reason I use Craigslist is for buying. Cheap, local deals. Which are few and far between. Either everyone is stupid, they back out, or respond with one word answers. That does go both ways between buyers & sellers, as you said.
Most recently someone had a deal for $50 OBO, I offered $40 and they accepted. Then told me they wouldn't meet me at a spot 10 minutes away from their house, so I politely asked them if they could name a location that they would meet so I could plug it into my GPS (going to pick it up after work, I live way out of town). They responded THREE days later to my inquiry with, "When would u like to meet". At that point it was the weekend, I already had plans, and they still never answered my question.
I also had someone who was selling a Sega Genesis lot (with no price & game listing) get back to me 1.5 days later with a list of games. They barraged my phone with 9 texts, 2 calls, 1 voicemail over the course of an hour while I was taking a nap. When I woke up I was instantly turned off from the deal, and there wasn't anything I needed anyway.
Craigslist is awful. I check it because I get bored at work and once in a blue moon I find something that's reasonable being sold by a reasonable human being.
In regards to me selling something... if I put something up for sale, I know what I want for it. If someone agrees to buy it from me and we set up a time to meet, I would not back out. If someone offered some number extroardinarily over the price I was asking, I wouldn't accept it either because most likely it was some BS offer. First come first serve. I don't accept backdoor offers on eBay, nor would I on Craigslist. As a buyer, I would be extremely disappointed if a deal was reached then the seller backs out after agreeing to sell.
Zelda II. gold cart. $10. buy it now listing on ebay. I jumped on it, get all the way to paypal processing and...error, item no longer exists. great, someone else snatched it up while i'm trying to pay. its annoying that when I have money available for ebay, I can't get anything, and everything cool shows up online when I'm empty...peachy.

I've given my number out twice so far and they never called me. It sucks.
Lady #1: Says that she has about 80 Playstation games that she thinks is in her attic when I asked about her Playstation sitting in a box, she said that she would call me when she found it. She said that she wanted $100 for everything.
Lady #2: Said at a yard sale that she had a ton of games at her house and that she would bring them the next day for me, I showed up at 7 AM like she asked and she "forgot to bring them". She has her son in the car and said that he changes his mind about selling them. I found a Luigi's Mansion in a box and it had a $2 sticker on it, she took to him and he said that he changed his mind and didn't want to sell it. I was upset because I spent $10 in gas to meet her for no reason. Never heard from her again.

lol typical..people dont have the balls to say NO or not to come out..theyd rather please you for the moment than deny you...almost as bad as a flaky chick lmao
I have little patience nowadays for flakiness. I was at one yard sale a few weeks ago and asked about any video games. The woman running the show replied "oh my son wants to sell off his DS and games, we were thinking of putting it on Craigslist." She brought her teenage son over and he was all "yeah...ummm...err". It was pretty obvious he wasn't looking to sell to me, but didn't know how to say it. I thanked them for their time and left. I don't need games that bad to try drawing blood from a stone.
Found Zelda Collector's Edition for GameCube today at a Goodwill for about $4. Heart was beating out of my chest until I opened the case...empty. I was crushed. Still picked up the case and manual. They were both in good shape. Will either find the disc loose one day or find a complete copy. If it's complete, I'll use the better case/manual and flip the other one. Just have to be patient now.
Is this the thread where we bitch about resellers? Really makes my blood boil when I see things go to someone who's just flipping them for profit. This being the latest reminder to just not bother with Craigslist:
Didn't even unwind the charging cable. The worst part may be that I live less than 5 minutes from the seller and was willing to go get it the day the listing was posted, but he said he "had people coming tomorrow" and if they didn't buy it I could have it. Should've pushed the envelope as hard as humanly possible since I knew it was done then.

Is Craigslist particularly bad here, or have I just had to deal with the worst of what Kentucky has to offer? Countless people backing out, failing to follow up, or just not acknowledging me at all.
Ehh it's hit and miss like anywhere else. Normally if they don't have a number listed I don't fool with it. Not sure if you've seen the VB bundle that's listed, but I've emailed that seller multiple times with no reply. It's updated every couple days and has been posted for about a month now...guess he's in no hurry to sell haha
There's a Craigslist/eBay rant thread around here somewhere. Some pretty funny stories if you wanna check it out. I'd post ya the link but I'm on my phone at the moment
I was at my local Saver's today for a purpose other than game hunting. On my way out, I figure I'd look at the games section. I usually would check for games first, but this specific thrift shop usually has garbage for anything electronics related. Lo and behold, there lies an entire collection of SNES games, all priced at a measly $6 each. Only problem is, someone's already there. I check what he left afterwards, but all that remained was a Super Mario World and some shitty sports games. He took about 8 games, and I know there was a Star Fox and a DKC 2: D's KQ in that pile. I will now be going straight to the games section anytime I visit a thrift shop without exception.
Nothing worse than seeing someone else walk away with awesome haul. I'd rather come in a minute later and just see empty space, at least I'd never know how close I came to getting a score.
Was checking Craigslist earlier today and found a post in the General category for a Gamecube lot for $25. The lot included the system, 2 controllers, and a whopping 25 games. The post said some games had case and some were just in a cd book, but it wasn't really specific about which games were in cases, and in the pictures it looked like all the games were not in cases. Anyway, only a few games were actually pictured, but from the 4 that I could make out, Smash Bros. Melee and Luigi's Mansion were clearly visible if you zoomed in. After contacting the person, she said it had already been sold. Can't help but wonder what other gold was in that lot. Goes to show, you should check EVERYDAY! The post was over a week old, and I don't know why I hadn't checked the general category in that long. I'm usually pretty good about checking the major categories pretty often.
...god dang it. went on craigslist yesterday, noticed an ad an nes with approx. 20 games, 2 controllers, and cables, $50 for it all. now, im strapped for cash and the guy didn't list or post any pics, so I inquire what games he had.
he sent me these:
yeah...mega man 2,4, and 5. cant believe it. I offer 10 bucks on just those games, the guy says sure, he'll set them aside for me. we arrange a place to meet, and says he'll meet with me after someone comes check out his system...and that was the last I've heard from him. I've messaged him back a few times, not enough to seem like a stalker but the appropriate amount of times, but...
I at least would have liked to have been told he sold it or to kiss off or something, but being ignored? not cool, man.
yeah I wouldve said bam $50..dude prolly realized you picked the gem games or rare games and knew something was up then went online and said OH DAMN!!!
either that or guy A took the whole kit when he went to check the system.
yeah, I know I should've gone the full 50, but I was tapped out on spending money and 10 was the max I definitively knew I could muster up on short notice...
here's another thing that didn't pan out: another craigslist ad earlier today posted 2 n64 games for $10 each.
the games? a bug's life and conker's bad fur day. yeah...someone else beat me to the punch before I could reach the seller.
at least this seller was kind enough to respond and say "sorry, it's been sold already." ...meh.
Seems like one of the thrift stores I go to regularly has hired some kind of genius who started putting 50 buck pricetags on EA sports Genesis games.
And they also have Track and field II for the NES priced at 30 bucks! And that was a store that used to have kickass deals like 5 bucks for Amazing Tater
And now I only have one good thrift store left in town... Sucks when one of these goes to the dark side
Craigslist ad for a garage sale containing "SNES, N64, Sega, PS1, PS2, etc" and "some games". I show up right at 8 when it was supposed to start. Of course, ask the lady and she says she just sold everything to someone. A few blocks over I ask someone else if they have any games, and they say that someone just bought all her games. And yet again, one more guy a few more blocks over has a few SNES sports games, so I ask if he has anything else, and he says someone else just bought a whole bunch of stuff from him. What the hell! How is it that someone else just happens to be following the same path as me just a few minutes ahead?

I went to a multi-unit garage sale at a condo complex a couple of weeks ago that specifically said one tenant would have NES and Atari games on Saturday only, opening at 9:00am. I show up at 9:00am sharp, everyone is slow to get their sales up and running, but I waited around until about 10am, and no one had anything beyond one guy with a handful of DS games. I ask around, and was told that there was another guy that was supposed to be there too, but must be late in getting setup. I ended up leaving to hit up some more garage sales in the area, drove by the original set again at about noon, and no one else had gotten setup. Very annoying.

That reminds me of a situation I had a few months ago. This lady posts her garage sale on Craigslist for the upcoming Saturday and Sunday. She lists several classic systems. It's a little rainy that morning, so I check on the ad, and it is updated to say that they are delaying the start due to something else, not just the rain. So I show up at the new start time, no one outside. So I text and email the lady asking if it's still happening. She replies later that night in a mass text saying they had to cancel for Saturday but will still have it Sunday. So Sunday morning I go through the whole process again. It's like deja vu. After that last update on Saturday, I never got another communication from her. The ad was still up saying they'd be out on Sunday. Yet when I drove by there was nothing. To this day I don't know if it was just someone who couldn't get their crap together, or if it was another collector in the area just messing with people. I was tempted to go knock on the door as ask about it, but I'm just not that guy.

The bear you are very honorable, I would accept a backdoor offer everytime unless it was a friend i was selling to
I would only accept such an offer if the guy proposes something like $500.
I hate backdoorers because they ruin the hobby for me and because the backdoorers are mostly resellers in my area

Is this the thread where we bitch about resellers? Really makes my blood boil when I see things go to someone who's just flipping them for profit. This being the latest reminder to just not bother with Craigslist:

Is Craigslist particularly bad here, or have I just had to deal with the worst of what Kentucky has to offer? Countless people backing out, failing to follow up, or just not acknowledging me at all.
There's a Craigslist/eBay rant thread around here somewhere. Some pretty funny stories if you wanna check it out. I'd post ya the link but I'm on my phone at the moment
he sent me these:
yeah...mega man 2,4, and 5. cant believe it.
I at least would have liked to have been told he sold it or to kiss off or something, but being ignored? not cool, man.
either that or guy A took the whole kit when he went to check the system.
here's another thing that didn't pan out: another craigslist ad earlier today posted 2 n64 games for $10 each.
the games? a bug's life and conker's bad fur day. yeah...someone else beat me to the punch before I could reach the seller.
at least this seller was kind enough to respond and say "sorry, it's been sold already." ...meh.
