  • If you just won the N64DD from Austin on Ebay. I hate you. Literally.
  • This is more of a "lady can't keep her end of a deal" than a typical losers weepers.

Someone offered to sell me about 15 NES games for fairly cheap, including Dragon Warrior IV and Bubble Bobble, two games that are on my want list. We set up a place and time to meet up. She lived near me, so we agreed to meet up 30 minutes after we first made a deal.

Literally five minutes after that, and 20 minutes before I was going to drive to her house and get the games, she messaged me and said, "So sorry, but my husband changed his mind about selling the games for that price."

Really? It didn't occur to her to ask her husband if that was okay before she made an agreement with me? Now she's asking other people for their highest offer for the bundle. Some people, man...
  • My brother, who is a huge atari 2600 fan was in a retro video game shop with me. He was browsing through the 2600 carts which were $1 each. He stumbled accross Swordquest: Waterworld. He passed on it because he didn't like the game very much when he played it on his Atari flashback. A guy came in the shop while we were still in it and found Swordquest: Waterworld and immediately bought it while holding back pure joy. We later went home and my brother found out what the game was worth. He still hasn't recovered and the search to find that game again continues 2 years later.

Worker came out, counted us, and told up there were 15 amiibos( all they pre orders were all taken care of, so 1 per customer. I was happy that I was the 15th. Shortly after, since I was in the back near the exit door, I saw 3 workers heading out with some raffle tickets, to prevent cutting. I barely caught some faint discussing they were having ( will explain in a minute) then the worker came out and said they re counted and they have only 14 now. I was so pissed, and the thing is, I think one of the workers took the 15th one because that is what it sounded like from there faint conversation before he came out( sounded something like about his amiibo).

On top of that, a person who came in line 6 people behind me yelled who wants to sell me there amiibo, and another costumer yelled $30 and laughed. I thought he was joking, but when I was waiting for my friends to come out, the 2 of them were outside, and he was selling his amiibo to the guy that came behind me for $40. So he just came the to scalp it

    That's awful dude. Wow!

  • Just missed a Facebook sale for Fire Emblem and Mario Kart Double Dash for $10. I know it will be picked up by the buyer as I have done business with him in the past. I am just sick to my stomach as I already have Double Dash.....
  • Today was on CL, emailed for ad of brand new in box Wii for $25. 11 am got email it was still available and address, then I sent reply at 12:10 pm that I would pick it up. I leave, drive 19 miles, arrive, it's gated, I can't get in, so I bang the gate, lady tells me it sold. I drive back 19 miles home. Check my email , she had sent me a reply at 12:14 pm (4 minutes after I sent my email) stating the Wii sold. So I drove all the way their to my destination when it had already been sold. Total waste of time and gas. Teaches me a lesson, don't deal with CL ads that only post email only and no phone number.

    That sucks.

  • Speaking of crappy CL experiences I found a deal a couple of years ago. Mega Man X3 with the box for $130. The guy on the phone gave me his address and we decided to make the hour drive to meet up. The address he gave me was to a landfill. You heard me correctly. A friggen landfill. I called and called and no answer. I knew I had been had. I was so mad the rest of the day. I wasted two hours worth of gas andtime for nothing all because of a stupid CL prank!! D:<
  • its an empty case, for that price thats not a loss
  • Had a chance to get the Majora's Mask New 3DS XL. I rolled up to Target, only 1 other person there. They had 3 in stock. If I had waited an hour until they opened I could have gotten one. I didn't think they would give out tickets, I thought I could just stroll in and buy one as they opened the doors.

Even as I was walking on over to Carl's Jr for breakfast and coffee I thought to myself "What the hell are you doing?"

I've lost my opportunity to get one (unless there's another shipment coming), and now I look at all the 500 dollar completed auctions and sob uncontrollably. I just can't bring myself to pay more than retail for it...

Actually, that's when you ask for a quote on a hundred of them.  They'll get so flustered about all the work they have to do pricing a hundred games, they'll make a quick calculation in their head of double what they've paid....

It's worked for me more than a few times.  And if they actually price the things, you may catch them slipping up on one or two items with just a glance.

I've been in your shoes and walked away from dozens of "I'll look it up online" folks.  After a while, I realized that I was walking away too often and had to get smart and try some out of the box negotiating tactics...

if you were like me, you were prolly thinking it'd be like the Windwaker HD Wii U, and months later there would still be a surpluss.  Thats why i never preordered one.  Now i'm kicking myself.
  • I wasn't really thinking that, actually.

I walked away not thinking there would be a ticket system. I figured "Even if there's a line, nothing could stop me from entering the door at the same time as the line folk. I'd rather be someplace warm and eating and drinking coffee and waking up than out in the cold. And if it comes down to a footrace to the desk, I don't even want to run for it. That's not very civilized."

If I knew about the ticket system in advance, not only would I have just stayed in line, I would have done it for a couple hours.

Through more discussion, found out they were just illegal burnt copies!! Who tries to sell copied discs!?

Told him I had to pass and he should throw those things in the trash

Hah, this happened to me once. He had a PS1 and 30 games, all RPGs and the like, wanted $50. There was like 4 or 5 legit games, and the rest were burned. I didn't dig through the bag and I met him in a parking lot. I don't think he intended to rip me off or anything, but jesus, mention they're burned.

Lucky for me the legit games were a couple Final Fantasy games, so I easily made my money back.

I see burned stuff at goodwill quite often, like your selling someones MIX cd,...the games you cant tell except from "shoddy reprinted artwork" and then you pop it open and its a CD-R

Im kinda tempted to make up a bunch of mix CDs and distribute them at the thrift stores all over town.

Not even donate them, just walk in with a bunch in my jacket and start stashing them on the shelves.

  • Lost out on a near perfect sealed smb3...bid 347...buggin me to know what winner placed
  • I found a huge lot of PlayStation RPGs... At the overpriced thrift store (that used to sell rare games at 5 bucks a piece)

It pains me to know that some poor chap got tricked into selling those games to those idiots that have lots of "We buy old games" advertisements
  • It wasn't really a personal losers weepers sort of deal, but it hurts all the same. Or at least it would have if I hadn't ditched the dream of going after boxed GB games. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281595151857?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649

A $50 lot with one of the rarest GB boxes out there. Someone sure got a deal.

OMG man...how did this not pass by my eBay watchlists?!

  • Yeah not quite the same, but I just found out about someone who sold a Spud's Box / Manual at a price I would have beaten 5 fold. That's the way it goes sometimes.

On eBay? All I need is a box to complete Spuds lol

  • Went to pick up a lot that had 25 common ps1 titles and computer games and had 3 game boy games including Pokemon Silver for $20. Get home to find that Pokemon isn't in the box and when I asked her about she said "Oh yeah we already sold that one."
  • Does anyone else go through completed auctions and see things they regret?? Or do you have a terrible feeling on the inside when they see things like this:

You can't post ended listings until 2 weeks after they've ended, you'll need to remove that Snow bros link from your post.

No worries. The Ducktales 2 link was fine by the way, that one said that it had ended on the 4th of last month.

Okay, cool. Thanks for the heads up!

  • That Ducktales 2 breaks my heart.

BTW, the Snow Brothers for $40 on eBay...seller already received negative feedback for it being stolen property. Sometimes if it's too good to be true, I guess.
