  • Wow, I wonder how the buyer could tell it was stolen?
  • Well... There was a nice boxed Intellivision lot on my local classified site. Of course, I got the dreaded "Sorry, already taken" excuse. Hate those scalping vultures!
  • How many times has someone posted on your wanted ad or you found a sweet deal on a posting, to get the response: "oh my son/husband/dog/the mailman decided he wants to keep it now.

    Ugh. Pisses me off.
  • Dug through thousands of carts at a large re-seller, and found two gems, one of which was Skyblazer for $8. I brought it up to purchase, where the owner then claimed that all stock had out-of-date prices and had to be priced-checked online.

He then told me the new price was $60... presumably because he had looked up Soul Blazer by accident. Nothing I said convinced him otherwise.

So, that didn't happen... luckily the other game I brought up was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie. Which he also price-checked. Charged me $10, so I'm guess he f'ed that one up too and looked up the original game.
  • I always love digging through resellers stuff (Usually unorganized and not priced) to find good games... Only to have them go and price check them on Ebay. It's always nice to do all their work for FREE.

    The WORST people.
  • So I got screwed on this lot today.

That was the 2nd listing. The 1st listing was an auction starting at $100 which I spotted right away and emailed the seller asking if they would add a buy now button. They didn't bother replying but did up the opening bid to $300 and cut it down to 24 hours. I sat and waited and sent another email, but still no reply. So I put in a bid for $300 to keep them from jacking it up again while I was waiting. They fucking cancel the listing with the bid on it and relist it starting at $1200. Still no reply, off I go to a meeting. I come back and it had fucking sold for $325 and the seller had replied with "sorry sold" and told me it was already shipped. She couldn't send me a fucking response for two hours but managed to sell and ship it in that time. Fucking people.

So obviously there's a Caltron cart sitting front and center there, but there was something else in there of the same color and shape (see photo). Who fucking knows what that was- could be anything from another Caltron to a random Gluk cart to a god damn Myriad. And she sold the whole fucking thing for $325 without ever checking with the only person who actually bid.

    WOW!

Not sure why but I think there were 3 Caltrons in the lot. The 1 in the first pic and then the 2 inside the box. I don't think she randomly picked up the Caltron from the first pic and put it in the box with a random assortment of games and the console. I think she dug out as much as possible and laid it out. Took a pic of the pile and then a pic of whatever else was inside the box.

That hurts man. It hurts bad

  • You should remove the link as the auction just ended and it's against the rules to post auctions within 2 weeks of completing. But that is tough.
  • I asked what that one cart was and she said it was already shipped. Also whoever snaked that lot can go fuck themselves so on the odd chance she's lying and it does get backdoored I don't give a shit.
  • At first in the thrift store I was all like, !!!!

For real, that place sucks ass, and I rarely go there. I can't tell you how many games I passed on there because they have the bad habit of writing the damn price directly on the disc games with thick permanent markers. And it smells. And it's dirty. And the people. Yeah, MAYBE once a month.

I really dont know what happened to the place, I used to get really good stuff there ALL the time, now I very rarely ever find anything at all.

  • Not really a typical losers weepers post, seeing as how it was just a lying seller.

I purchased a CIB copy of Lil Monster for the Game Boy Color and the condition was stated to be in very good condition with only minor shelf wear. Minor shelf wear my ASS, the seller completely lied about the condition of the item. It's in just plain awful condition, and I'm flat out ticked.

    My search continues.

If it makes you feel any better, the seller has to pay final value fees on the auction that you bid on but was then cancelled.  Probably doesn't make you feel better, but still....

My loser's weepers: Lady posted in local FB buy/sell/trade a pic of 3 N64 games, one of which was Conker's.  $8 for all three.  I jumped on it of course and in the ensuing conversation she said that she had a N64 console with an extra controller and all cords plus a random OEM Gamecube controller.  Said I could have everything for $45.  We set up a meeting for two days later and I thought it was all good.  Next day I noticed this local POS guy posted on her thread offering her $20 for Conker's.  Now, this guy goes around advertising that he will buy games nearly every day.  One time he was supposed to buy some stuff from me but the day before we were to meet he just cut off communication and ignored me.

Anyway, after he posted in her thread I get a message from her saying that her son decided to keep everything.  And I go back to her thread and suddenly all of his posts were deleted.  Shocker, right?

Local Facebook group? Meet 2 days later? You have to be faster to the draw than that. It sucks, but it will happen every time if you don't pick up within the hour.
  • Yeah, missed out on a CIB Zelda Spirit tracks by minutes for 10 bucks on a local FB BST. I coulda been a dick and offered more, considering the person who wanted it wouldn't be able to pick it up for 6 days, and i was cash in hand ready to roll, but I didn't. Karma goes a long way sometimes.
  • A run of Nintendo Powers. About 20 issues, including the last two I need. I watched that freakin auction for three weeks. It sat at starting price ($20) all the while with no bids. I got more and more excited as time went on. Suddenly, two hours before ending, the auction disappeared! It had been relisted...for $135. I watched it not sell for two more months, then I said screw it and unwatched when it got reposted the fourth time still at $135.

I just thought about it and wanted to see if it's still around. Can't find an active listing or anything relevant in the seller's recent feedback.
  • Missed a Craigslist Super Nintendo lot listed as a system with 2 controllers, 26 games and cartridge case for $50. I emailed him 5 mins after it popped up with my phone number saying I could meet him this afternoon with cash in hand to look at what he had. He responded and said he'd contact me when he got off work.. I checked three hours later after following up on my previous email and noticed the ad had been taken down. I'd assume someone emailed him and offered way more for the bundle. Such is the life with Craigslist.

I'm telling myself it was just 26 copies of Vegas Stakes...but he probably had 26 copies of Hagane instead haha!

Yeah I know, but sometimes life gets in the way. Had to work 12 hour shifts both days and couldn't meet before then. I guess I'm an idiot for believing that someone would keep their word.
  • So I've been trying to find a reasonably priced Pocky and Rocky for SNES for a while now. Saw a CIB copy that had very few bids on it. I sat and waited on it to see if it would rise. Well, it came down to the last hour, and still not many bids, so I put in a bid around $140 (the lowest CIB Pocky and Rocky is at $250 BIN currently). I'm watching the countdown, and I have the highest bid. Time runs out, and I got sniped by $1! One. Freaking. Dollar. Later, I'm scrolling through my watch list again, and a new Pocky and Rocky shows up. Someone mislabeled a Pocky and Rocky 2 as a regular Pocky and Rocky, and had listed it for a Pocky and Rocky 1 price ($90 BIN w/free shipping). In the literal 5 seconds it took me to click on the link, someone had snatched it. The page opened, and it was already sold. I was so angry...

If it makes you feel any better, you probably didn't get sniped for just $1... the person had probably put in a higher max bid, but the auction just goes incrementally higher than the 2nd place (your) max bid.  Who knows, maybe the person's max bid was $300.  You'll never know... But it still sucks!

  • Some guy was selling a Wii U with pretty much every good game for the system for just $250, I could have taken out Bayonetta, Pikmin 3, Smash, and flipped it for the same price, but I never got an email back. I'd imagine he got nailed with a ton of messages and sold it before I got to it.

I didn't really weep for it, but I might have grimaced slightly.
  • Almost three years ago at a local flea market, I picked up a copy of Joust for $2. I picked up that game because I actually knew what it was, instead of this game I didn't know about released by Taito that featured this goofy looking kid wearing a bandana, sticking his fist out....

As for me, I almost bought 26 (or more) copies of Vegas Stakes. There was a guy on Ebay selling an unopened shipping box full of 'em. I let the listing go for three months and then finally the temptation struck and "Why the hell do I need this" got drowned out by "Wow that/'s so cool".

That listing went for three months. THREE MONTHS. I put a bid on it FIVE MINUTES before it ended. Some jerk put a bid two dollars higher on it 3 SECONDS before it ended.

Though really I probably dodged a bullet there.

That's hilarious...but you should really be thankful that said jerk didn't leave you stuck with a bunch of games you don't want...just think, there's a guy out there right now with a crate of sealed Vegas Stakes  games going "crap...the heck am I going to do with these things?!?"
  • I hit my local thrift store tonight and I arrived just in time to see one of my competitors getting ready to leave with a NES Action Set Box in his possession. The box was in damn fine shape, crisp corners and no wear & tear on the box. Curiously got the better of me and he told me it was missing the console, but everything else was intact and still sealed in the original baggies. The thrift store wanted $40 for it.
