I never understood why people didn't like the game, other than the blue bird soldiers in the last castle. The only thing I really thought was lacking was the second quest. Should have been different like in the first game.
oh they weren't so bad when you could just up thrust them when they jumped. trying to judge where their oddly thrown sword bolts when they jumped were going to land, different story.
I liked Z2. The music choices were probably some of the best... temple wise.
I've never liked Zelda II. It just plays too different from other series entries. And this is coming from someone who isn't ordinarily afraid of change.
The thing I hate the most about this game is the hate it gets because it has the Zelda name and doesn't play like the first Zelda. That always seems to be the biggest reason I hear for people not liking it.
Yeah I agree here. It's the same sort of attitude that creates a scenario where every game that comes out is an FPS. Not that people are obligated to like Zelda 2 or anything but disliking it because it isn't Zelda 1 doesn't make much sense to me.

I just figured out that strategy for them this time around. I used to run for my life. Now it's just wait (and block), and JUMP!! They only get 1-3 hits on me instead of life threatening problems.
Zelda 2 has awesome music. The Great Palace is one of my favorite NES tunes of all time.
I enjoyed Zelda 2 just as much as the first one. The display change didn't bother me as much since I was young when it came out and more into side-scrollers at the time anyways. For me at a young age it was a great introduction to RPGs. Although I would still have to say that a link to the past was my favorite zelda adventure, yet this may be skewed since I have not fully played through Ocarina of time at this point. It's intersting to hear the opinions of people about this game.

. . and I'm still waiting on my sequel to this game!
What are you talking about? It had two. They were on the CD-i.

Now those are titles bearing the Zelda name that deserve every bit of hate imaginable by Zelda fans.
