  • Age is a number. Old is in your head. Not mine.

    hehe.
  • I get mine tomorrow morning. From everything I've heard, its pretty amazing! Very excited.
  • I'm going to wait and get mine a couple hours after the shop opens. I want to be a bit early to Toys R Us, called, theyll have in like 20 of each game, so I want to get all 4 I want so I can get that 50% off deal twice so the 4th game is free.
  • I got an hour and a half till wallmart opens.. and im so antsy

    ImBob, meet Tanooki!

BTW, of course it's a kids toy.  You think you are gunna fix a car with it or run a business of it?  It's a video game system!  It's a kids toy!

    Edit: fixed double quote

So a Big screen TV, porn, and beer are kids toys? Toys maybe. They are devices for recreational activities. Doesn't mean they are for kids. It's like saying hentai is for kids because it's a cartoon.  Tanooki may have gone overboard, but some people really need to open their minds, and stop stereotyping the world. Look around and think, don't try to make it through life labeling everything and assuming everything fits in one category. It does make one look shallow.
  • Just picked up my 3DS. Its tons of fun. Picked up Pilot Wings and Super Monkey Ball. The 3D works great, I was quite suprised.
  • Based on what I've seen, we started the day with 16 systems. When I left at 3:30PM, we had 13. I don't think there will be a shortage of them.

And, I've come to the conclusion that I won't be buying one anytime soon. Fact is, 3D doesn't work for me at all. I have no depth perception nor 20/20 vision in my left eye (it's 20/100). It's just not worth buying a system right now where everybody looks double, no matter where I hold it at.
  • I was very excited about getting one....went to Best Buy today to play a little bit of a demo....and walked away a few minutes later with a bit of a headache...
  • Picked mine up a couple hours ago and fired it up. I got Steel Diver and Pilot Wings with it. I gotta tell you it's friggin cool. Like I said before, it's DS2 for me.

Both games are a blast. The 3D effect looks pretty cool all around, although to save my eyes I keep it off while on the home page or setting up internet etc... It doesn't bother me but I find the adjustment between 3d and 2d screen (top/bottom) can be a bit tiring after a while.

The 3D is great when in parascope mode on Steel Diver. Having it in 3D and having to actually turn yourself around to find the enemy ships is awesome!

Anyways, I'm very happy with the system, and am just as happy playing it in 2d as I am in 3d.
  • also wanted to mention that 20 minutes after stores opened I went and picked up my pre ordered 3DS from Gamestop and they said that they only had 2 non pre orders left. Looks like it will / has sold out.
  • Picked mine up this morning. Charged it and set it up. Popped in Ridge Racer and the system crashed. Bricked. Awesome. Called Nintendo and they are sending a replacement.
  • I know the Gamestop cleared what they had, dunno about Toys R Us. I went there first to get the games as they had a buy 1 get another 50% off, so I bought 4 games and paid for 3 basically. I was there, there was no line, bigass box of games, and I was out in 5minutes. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad because they had their pre-sell stuff going for a long time so maybe it's just accounted for.

    That sucks man.
  • Already saw one on craigslist for 400 bucks OBO. Sent him an offer for 150, still waiting to hear back

Saw one like it too.  Told him to give up, then posted an ad about our target having 13 left for sale at 250.  Plan backfired, he bought 5 more.
  • Wow that was a dick move...thankfully the sob can't take advantage of desperate christmas shoppers on this one. If someone pays that jerkoff that much they're just stupid and deserving, not in a legitimate pinch (unless it's a b'day gift.)

Meanwhile every Walmart, Best Buy, Future Shop, etc in town probably had 20+ sitting around. Gamestop is just stupid like that. I think the executives actually get boners at the idea of the employees having to tell customers "if you didn't preorder, we don't have one for you".
  • I love it. Street fighter is easier to play than I thought it would be, and it looks really nice. Also picked up Ghost Recon Shadow Wars. I haven't played it yet. I've spent most of my time fooling around with the AR cards and whatnot. You can set up your own little 3D nintendo scene and take a picture. I've got Mario about to be attacked by link with a bomb on top of my phone book.

All of our local gamestop stores got about 5-10 extras of each color.

And these things will be hard to get, there's no doubt.  Its the Nintendo way.  Release day was subpar, but as soon as the brother/friend/cousin of the people who preordered actually mess around with it, they're gonna want one, and they'll be gone.
  • I had a weird feeling about this one guys! Nintendo dropped the bal again big time with no Mario , Metroid or any other alist first party titles. Moreover , I am tired of remixes or redux of Nintendo 64 games ENOUGH Already! The 3ds may be the default system of the holiday season (that NGP is looking too darn sexy............ and I am a Kyoto boy to the core)!
  • NGP looks nice, but it is gonna cost more than my tv, or perhaps 2 3ds's
  • NGP is basically a portable PS3, the games can be ported over code and all. Thinking of that, larger screen, front and back touch panels, games on cards like the 3DS, dual analog, and basically what PSP does and then some. All that given what they dared charge for PSP initially, and how sony refuses to be logical with pricing you're probably spot on saying it'll cost like the price of 2 3DS's. PS3 was supposedly cheap at $600 and the PSP at $250.
  • The NGP will either be $299 or $349.

and it's slated to be released 1/1/12, which we all know is stupid.  Sell it 6 days after Christmas?.  I don't believe either the price nor date.  Way too much expensive tech for such a low price.
  • I don't believe the date, but I believe the price. We'll just have to wait and see. Probably $399 for the 3G Model.
  • Sony may play hardball and price it at $249.99 to force nintendo to drop the 3ds to $199.99
  • I only heard the initial speculation on price which was $400-$600. If it comes out for $300, that isn't too bad, but to me Nintendo was already pushing the limits with $250 for a hand held. Unless they start offering these devices on contract with data plans or something, I think their going to start finding it hard to move these devices if they keep raising the prices. In this day and age we already have pocket devices that can play games, and so much more (phones). It's only a matter of time before they move beyond casual games. Is the portable console industry gonna have room in this market at those prices, when the age of tablets and smart phones are coming into full stride?
  • I think Sony probably would dare a base model at $300 and a beefier 3G or something type for $50 more. The problem is they just don't care or get it on what most people would pay for a device. Nintendo may claim they've moved the most sold units on a launch with 3DS (w/out numbers yet to back it up) but Sony also blew it at that price against the DS until they did the base and combo pack units at under or at $200. Sony ate it at launch a few hundred on PS3 at $600. This NGP unit is overkill again, it is a portable PS3 as it can share code meaning you'll get cross ported titles. Micronized PS3-like hardware, the double touch panels, bigger screen and so on...it'll probably sell at $300 minimum and they'll lose about that per-unit to do it. I don't see them stupidly doing another system at $500-600 range again, but I don't see them being reasonable either.

...and JBO no I don't think it will, not for a long time, because stuff like the iTouch/Pad and all the nicer less restrictive clone devices can do far more for the same price most people who aren't just die hard gamers would flock to first. If not the base unit being a pisser, those download games usually are like $1-$10 or so dollars for a good many of them. It's like the stupidity of Angry Birds as in phones it's $1, but I think it's on PSN or something for $10-15 I forget, and they were going to put it on DS for $30.
