Pyramid Proto

Got this with a BIN of $59, not sure if its legit though, what do u guys think, did I get a deal, or was I ripped off? It apears legit and the seller had 99 feedback, but I have little knowlege about prototypes.

Heres the description the seller gave...

Here is a RARE Prototype game from American Video Entertainmetn, who produced Unlicensed games for the NES. This prototype was an early effort to transfer games into US compatibility for testing, and was given to a fellow collector by a past employee of A.V.E. This game ships inside of a dummy case to protect it!

Ok, ive done some research into this game and from the guy i bought it from. Apparently the game is the Sachen Famicom release of Pyramid, but the prototype aspect is the "NINA" chip, which was developed by A.V.E. This chip and the lower section of the board was designed for in house testing of Famicom games, but was never made available for sale(to the public or otherwise) and was abandoned soon after production. This game has been soldered onto the lower section of the board with the NINA chip attached.

  • That was from qbertandernie, a reputed member over at DP. I think it's probably legit coming from him, but something like that one in particular could be easily faked (after all, it's basically the Sachen Famicom board soldered to a 60-to-72-pin connector)... If it is legit, as I think it is, I think $59 was a pretty decent price for it.
  • I'm glad to know the seller is reputable. I feel much beter knowing that I most likely didn't get intentionally scammed, reguardless of whether its actually legit or not.
  • Yeah, you should send him a pm over on Digital Press and ask him what he knows about it or whatever.
  • I'm not a member at DP, but i guess I could join. Anyway, the proto is exactyly identacle to proto # 2 on this site and also found some info here http://thewarpzone.classicgaming.gamespy.com/x159.html

However, qbertandernie is the owner of prototype one, which is different than proto 2, as documented on thewarpzone http://thewarpzone.classicgaming.gamespy.com/x158.html

I think the seller was someone else, whoever owned proto #2 , which according to the site was TRM.
  • There is no way to really know. I could be very easily faked...

How do I know you're the real NGD if you can be very easily faked?
  • As you should know from the poll of the day yesterday, NGD doesn't really exist....

  • A few years ago, TRM (from the site thewarpzone) sold his protoype of pyramid on Digitalpress. I don't know who bought it. I would think the one you got is legit. I wanted to buy it but didn't want to spend $60. The famicom version of pyramid is the same as the NES version released by AVE.

  • The NINA chip is a microprocessor that was used as a lockout defeater, which is why it is added onto the 72->60 pin converter. The game will be exactly the same, the extra board/chip just makes it run on a USA NES with lockout chip.
