  • Yeah we're on the same page. There's a reason there are PS3 owners and there are 360 owners at the HD level who may not buy both but could afford to. One of them offers far more campaign/single player variety, the other highly emphasizes the genres and franchises that best work over their network pay service. If you're more at home blowing someones head off and frothing over the mic, the PS3 isn't for you, and if you're into having more campaign type and longer single player experiences that forgo or just tack on a multiplayer game to keep some people happy then the 360 isn't your ideal either. To ecah their own ya know.

I feel the same, bugs me a lot actually too when that question pops up and someone is dumb to the whole answer as they ignored the 'game' to get into the multiplayer only or damn near it. You're right, online unless it's a game for it (WoW, MAG on PS3, Halo, other co-operative types) should be a secondary part you do around the game or more likely after to give the game more distance once you're done. It shouldn't be an equal, and definitely in gaming review circles shouldn't be a reason to dock a whole point or two if it's not.

While I'm sure online multiplayer with friends is fun, playing with random people just serves to reinforce the notion that no matter how good you think you are, there's some loser living in his mom's basement playing the game 80 hours per week, and they will win   (at least, that was the lesson I learned early on in the days of Battle.net )

The usually have a ladder system now, which helps a bunch to give you reasonable competition so
you don't have to be the world champ to have fun online

Maybe Halo, but that game [Reach, not 3] sucked in campaign and had terrible online. Was such a watse of $60, I'll be the first to admit that. And I don't put 80 hours a week into any game, or even in total, but I rarely lose. I rarely am outplayed. You don't have to play more time to be better, you just have to understand the game and combat situations [in the game] and you'll outplay a lot of people. Hell, in any FPS, If you look at your radar and determine where they're spawning and where they're at, you will beat half the people in the game.

So....I wonder if the rumors of the Wii 2 being Battlefield 3's full console version are true. If it is.....damn. That's quite a lure for the real gamers to actually buy the system. And people with more money than me will.
  • Best multiplayer is friends in your living room. Online with them is a poor substitute.

Personally, I'd rather play by myself than with someone online I don't know.

Basically, xbox and ps3 have to spread their game sales across several games people like whereas the wii has like 4 games worth getting in the library.

Doesn't say anything about console sales though

Edit:  What I mean to say is:

I think total game sales would be a better indicator on the game side.

    only wii games worth getting?????

Games not mentioned in that list

    Zelda Twilight Princess
    Mario Galaxy
    Mario Galaxy 2
    Punch Out
    Kirby Epic Yarn
    Smash Bros Brawl
Resident EVil 4 (yes the wii port is better IMO)
    Wario Land Shake IT
    Metroid Other M
    Mario Super Sluggers
    Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles
    Donkey Kong Country Returns
    No More Heroes

There are several other titles solid for the system as well. 4 good games my ass.

I dont play this but apparently those Just Dance games are pretty damn popular

I will consider playing these when either:

    a) They start rereleasing them for 20$ as playchoice games

    or

    b) I run out of great 20$ greatist hits series games I haven't played yet on ps3 *and* there are no new games I would rather spend my 60$ on.

lol have fun waiting. Nintendo first party titles never drop. I remember looking for N64 and ps1 games around 97 and 98 and saw a DK 3 for snes in the glass case at target that was still full retail 50-60 bucks.
