  • The wind blows

This thread as some details about the differences.

  • Bunny's has the hardware for the FDS on the board, while the MMC3 revision from Loopy just changes it to MMC3, Apparently with some flaws.
  • Loopy's port is a pefect SMB2j port, everything from the original game is there. Luigi's different physics, wind, etc. It has no flaws. The guy who told that never played it. Also I never had any bugs on SMB2j by Loopy.

Also I find it strange Bunny's port only use so few chips, maybe the Bunny's mapper convert the information much more better than any others old pirates from the 80s or maybe it's really hacked, I have no idea.

Here's an exemple of a FDS SMB2j on cartridge: (undumped) - This is supposed to be the closest port by a pirate company.

  • I am pretty sure there's some stuff missing from loopys mapper change though. I can't recall what, though.
  • The end music ? The NES doesn't have the FDS channels to do it (extra pins), and it's the same for Bunny's version.
  • Not sure, but I remember there being bugs. I just found a version that claims bug fixes and played fine though, I've never seen it though. And Bunnys doesn't play the extra sounds even with the resistor mod?
  • All I know is that you can select any level you want in Bunny's version. Upped the replay value for us since we could not get past the 3rd level.
  • So the only difenents is Loopy's is a Mapper Hack, while Bunnyboy's is not
  • ^This. I got a cart made using the loopy rom (was an online friend of his years ago) and I've held onto it for years. The loopy one, at least the one I have on a cart does the different jumping, wind, etc that some well known crap hack online fails to do right.
  • How do you actually level select on Bunny's version?, I know you can, I just haven't done that yet.
  • Thanks for the Info Tanooki..

At the title screen, push A or B..you can flip it to level 1-1, to 2-1 to 2-2...anything you want...

Cool, I'll give that a try
  • Good...that is the reason we play the 2j version more than SNES or Wii versions. We get so frustrated with certian levels we quite. But with the 2j version...if you get stuck...just skip past it and try some other levels...
  • Well the Bunny's version remove all challenge from this game because you can finish it by cheating...

Except you don't actually have to use it... For example i've never actually "used" the Konami code to finish a game, just tried it to say I did it is all.

I guess you could look at it that way, but I never wanted to play the game to finish it, all the way in sequence. When I want to, I will start at the beginning and try. I don't think anybody would ever say they "finished" the game just because they completed every level, out of order...IMO
