  • does look good! seems like you'd really want to have a turbo controller for this one.
  • That looks surprisingly high quality.
  • damn no game genie codes for this game wheres Mog when we need him
  • Haha, Yeah Mog crushes through games pretty good. This game has not got boring yet. Very cool game. I was really suprised on how good it is.
  • wow, much effort was put into this one! Off topic, arch, you have an insane amount of posts...

you mean it won't run in a Powerpak?! I see mapper 90 is listed as "Planned", but I don't know what does this mean exactly.
  • I wish i knew more about how to change these things.... I will just have to keep plugging away at 6502/assembly and then go from there in due time.
  • Yeah it definitely won't run on the Powerpak, but can a reproduction be made of it? I'd love to have a cart of this thing. It's probably the bes NES pirate I've seen.
  • I may be wrong about this, though I think the only way to make a repro of this is to change the mapper on this cart. Unless I could find another mapper 90 cart to use as a donor.

Yeah, 14,000 passed without much fanfare.

I've spent an embarrassing amount of time on this site in the past 4 years

  • Hmm I've seen this before it really is a fine piece of work. As far as mappers and the powerpak goes, make one yourself. Mog was doing that during the week and he made a mapper on an unassigned number and along with using some savestate tool he was able to get the TkROM that Wario's Woods craps out on int he powerpak to work. I have a guide up on gamefaqs (nes header doc) that explains how to edit/make a header in the .NES format which the powerpak uses. If you're determined just get a basic hexeditor like hexeditor.exe(very barebones but perfect for this stuff) and start playing with the bits and maybe you'll get lucky.
  • Cool, never even heard of this pirate until now
  • That's the example of taking there time to program a game

    Other pirate games are crap
  • Donkey Kong Country 4/Jungle book 2 seems promising, haven't played all of it though...
  • I have tried other mapper 90 games and they work on my PowerPak, so I figured I would try this one. I get a Bad Header File error. I know there is programs to fix headers can't think of the name right now maybe it will help this one work on the PowerPak.
  • Wow, that is good looking. Loved the SNES game when I had an SNES a couple years back briefly. Amazing what can be pulled off when someone actually puts some effort into it.

All this usually means is someone put their name in the header, Nestopia can fix this, or you can use a hex editor and change the right half of the first record to all hex 00

What are some other mapper 90 games?

  • Yeah like I said, get hexedit.exe v1.03 (it's windows based) and just clean it up. Back in the day wannabes thinking they were cool like this one jerkoff DiskDude would put his name into those 8 last bits in the header and it would cause a ton of problems with emulators as they'd get confused as they have to be 00s.

Edit, goofed the name of the program I was using, corrected it.
  • I have Hex Editor Neo
  • Did any of this editing help to get it to work on the PowerPak. It works fine for me on Nestopia.
  • Looks great!

The music has been taken from Mighty Final Fight (another great game).

  • Have you been able to get it to work on the PowerPak yet?
  • The game looks great and causes me to question why Capcom did not do a port like this to the nes back in the day when something like this was possible. Also, can someone please give an explanation as to what a mapper is and why mapper 90 matters in this case. Thanks.

Mapper 90 is used for certain pirate carts made in Taiwan, very complex and hard to copy.

I really doubt any editing will make this game work, but you never know.

You said other games use mapper 90 and work fine on the PP. What games? Might be able to get this one to work if I can look at the others that work with 90.
  • Super Mario World Mapper 90 pirate game from cah4e3's site does it was ripped from a multicart.
  • ^I never could remember that sites name but I used to love hitting it to grab pirate crap to try out, of which nearly all of it is crap, but a few people do try on (like Final Fight 3.) Thanks.
  • The error on the PowerPak has to do with the header doesn't it? How hard is it to edit that?
  • I got it to work with minor glitches at the bottom of the screen on my PowerPak.

Use Nintendulator - fix ines header - remove exses garbage from header, thats all I did threw it in the PowerPak and loaded it up. It took about 25 seconds to load but it worked and I have played it.
