  • So you don't think this dude is co-owner of the store?

I wasn't really trying to steal thunder at all. I was trying to nip things in the bud before people started getting their hopes up over this guy who found a "hidden gem" of a shop that "i wont reveal the location of this place so dont ask! sorry. no offense."

Other NH members agreed with me about the store, including Scott. I think you'd understand if you were to actually go in there. Even with general knowledge of pricing you can see the silliness, you don't need to be an expert on everything.

But if you're PMing back and forth then you're probably working out a deal of some sort. Which probably means...

I think there's a pretty good chance. And if that's the case he should just come out and say it. At the very least, I'm honestly suspicious about the whole thing.
  • why would the CO-owner of a videogame store bid over $200 on an ebay auction for spiderman?

    he has to be collecting.

besides that spiderman, he seems like he has a really good eye for good SNES CIBs and is willing to pay a little more on ebay to get a few hard ones. (damn you snesfinder on a few!)

Sorry Mr. Detective, but he bought a Hurricanes CIB from me, and he's not trying to pimp his items over to me.  You guys can assume whatever you want, but he's obviously a SNES collector who is paying well for many items that he needs.  That much I know.

was not an oversight by them, he individually checked each price on the internet, and matched it to that price minus a few dollers, that is for the ones that were available online, which is less than half of those titles. i even told him ive seen kid kleets sell for 60$+. and he still did it for 20$. he didnt care, he just wanted to move it. i wasnt about to pay that. and the question about the pictures is just stupid, why would i say i bought the games and just leave them there? lol. totally retarted. i will make a genuine attempt to post the games in the bragging rights thread soon.

and if it was all about over priceing and how bad the prices are, then how did i leave there with so much? i only mentioned your name because you know about the place better than anyone else here, so who else would i direct that to?

the old man was gone when i went there, and the son knows nothing. hes never even played videogames. its likely that the owner knows quite a bit more about the games. but i just dont understand how everyone can say how stupidly overpriced they are? if hes asking 25$, i could probably talk him down to 20$ for the street cop, and ppl are trying to get 50$ for it? i think that just pproves that he is at least fair priced comparing to the internet. which is basically how this all started. sorry if i offended you at all was not my intention, and when i was asking you specifically about the sealed games, i wanted to see if you had actually seen them there, or if he really did go grab the boxes out of storage, because i still dont know the truth behind that. i had to go there 3 diffrent times and bug the old man about snes boxes/manuals. i was very polite, respectful, and patient. 2 weeks later i went back and the son said his dad asked him to grabbed these boxes out of storage for me to have a look through. but if you havent seen these games yet then he really does have a backstock in storage maybe? if youve been going there for 15 yrs then why wouldnt you believe that they have some backlog? i dont think they got their 50,000+ inventory from trade ins and NH yard sales. espically the sealed ones( they claimed they bought them new)  if you only go in there once a year, then they probably dont recognize you as a regular, i have gone there 4 times in the past 2 months before i finnaly got a shot at these games

I can't read anymore of his post, just because I think his SHIFT key is broken.
Capitalize after a period, when starting a new sentence...Makes it easy for us to read...

  • LOL,for one you never answered me, the two times i asked you if you had seen the sealed games that i took pictures of. so im just gonna assumme that means NO you have not seen them. i cant prove that i was the first collector to view them but, that box was filled, not a single game was missing, and had a nice layer of dust on it. Very odd if you ask me.

And im not saying your lying about anything. some of his popular  snes games were definetlly overpriced, like Mega Man 7 carts for 50$, but putting that aside, i still walked out with a bunch of hard to find games for cheap money.  easily said illl prolly never get that lucky again..maybe.
AND another thing i dont doubt you is that he is fibbing to me, you, and everyone else about his storage unit.

I Got on him about it and told him to his face that if hes bullshittin about the units he needs to come clean because hes most certainly wasting my time and effort. as well as you and other people busting his balls about it. yet again he defends his claims hes got a full unit of stuff. so as a SNESfinder, i have no choice but to go on what he is saying. its part of the addiction, and i have no where else to look right now.
the old man is who told me hes got a few hundred Snes boxes and Manuals. it was much easier to believe he seems to know whats really in there. .

now the whole "im his son" crap is just immature, and if you really want me to prove that ill meet you over there youll meet me in person and you can find out who i really am. im fine with that, just PM me the time and date. i think youll relize im just a not the prick kinda guy im coming off as, but i think this site is about opinions, aggreeing, disaggreing, and a whole lot more. so of course im gonna speak my mind to the fullest extent. im interested to see what he would say if you offered him a a price on any one of those sealed games. i can almost guarentee youll get them for CIB prices or less, wheather there rare, uncommon, or garbage. i would even take your side 100% if he was trying to screw you over.

Im sorry to hear you dont like to "go through a mountain of shit for one kernel." but luckily, you have guys like me who are more than willing.what do you think 90% of the games are? obvi shit. but thats what makes it so sweet when you find that dam kernal you have been looking for for so long.

im sorry if you disagree with me, but i take my hobby seriously. and if someone tells me hes got a unit full of games that havent been sifted through very well in 5-10 years, thats when i told him i would organize his shop, get his shit in order, and help him go through all that storage stuff, all for nothing, so long as he would let me make the first offers on it. like a crack head works for food. i will work for games.

i didnt post the thread to get anyones hopes up[. i didnt post the thread the first day he told me he had storage unit full. i actually waited until he showed me something, i was only expecting SNES. so when he popped open the box of 30 something sealed nes games.i  no idea what the hell i was looking at.i figured that would be a perfect time to start the thread. that way i would have a knowlegable input from everyone at NA on what to keep my eyes peeld open for.

im going to get into those units one day or another. whether he likes it or not .ill buy every friggen snes complete he has and push it on ebay if i have to, forcing him to go in there and restock with the fresh stuff hes got packed away. and if its all just crap like broken systems and junk. i will know and make it public, and if hes bullshitting about them all togeather, then at least we all will know.

ill be sure to get back to the people who PM me there list FIRST if/ when i do find what needs to be re-discovered. until then what does anyone have to lose? right now ebay and amazon are the only really prime place to get the retro games anyway. we all just have to sit and wait for it to pop up. or go and find the shit ourselves.

Thinking back the only sealed stuff that sticks in my mind is a Tengen Tetris. He wanted $300-350 I believe? He also had a stack of Final Fantasy III guides sealed which he didn't want to sell at the time. That was quite a few years ago, so I don't know what's up with them now. Though as an SNES collector those guides would be a unique addition if he's willing to part with them.

If he's actually willing to go through the storage for you, that's great. I tried and tried to get shit out of him for many years. His business isn't doing that great and he's getting older. I know he wanted to retire but his son (don't know if it was another or the one in the store) screwed him out of a bunch of money and he's stuck. Maybe he's finally starting to wake up.

He didn't seem interested in selling his shit for all his years, so why bother asking anymore, right? I'm at the point in my life now where I don't have the free time to deal with his crap and got really annoyed by him.

I hope you let him know about all the other NH collectors that don't like going there anymore. I would be willing to go if he was reasonably priced and actually had an accurate inventory. I mean, he can leave stuff in storage, just go through and make an inventory so people who are interested can buy the stuff, ya know? I don't know how he keeps inventory, but he's obviously disorganized.
  • Itchy and Scratchy sealed $15,   thats a score for sure.  the hardest simpsons game
  • This wouldn't be the Plaistow store would it?

My friend and I have been in there before. It has some good stuff but, yes, alot of it is overpriced. Still, for a retro store, of which there are hardly any decent ones, save for the one up the street from me, it does have the biggest inventory I have seen that is not all in a crappy condition.

and i have to say, i am happy to see jone being the voice of reason here. my oh my, how he has grown over the years! EDIT: this isnt being sarcastic, i am being truthful. jone took the high road in this thread and didnt even come off as being an asshole, which i used to think he did in EVERY thread!

Excellent grabs man, Kid Kleets is probably damn near $100 by itself.  Unfortunately, games like Wizard of Oz are only $20-$25 in today's SNES market, but I also paid $20 for my CIB and wouldn't sell it for less than $50.  Quite uncommon.

EDIT: But just for a dose of realism, Street Cop on NES sure ain't a $50 CIB either.  I haven't kept up with NES CIBs like other platforms, but I can't imagine it being more than $20-$25, exactly why it is still on the shelf.

The price on that cart by itself is between $3.00 and $15.00 on eBay recently. Is the CIB really worth close to $100.00?

Somebody has a factory sealed Street Cop for $50 on Amazon.

I'm not hyping values publicly because then I have to pay more when I try to win one at auction.  But if you have a Kid Kleets for sale, which I'm sure no one in this thread does, PM me and you can find out firsthand how much I'll pay.

Damn, I have a perfect CI copy... tempting me. $20 for the one snesfinder found is an absolute steal imo.
