Three Kirbys?

In many Kirby games, when you finish a level, suddenly two other "Kirbys" appear and they all do a little dance. Has the reason for this ever been given anywhere? Maybe in one of the instruction manuals it explains how and why this happens? It has always bothered me.

  • because the rule of cool my friend.
  • Hope you're not losing any sleep over this.

There is plenty of random crap in games that doesn't make sense.

Why does Mario have to slide down the flagpole? Isn't that a waste of time? Shouldn't he be rushing to save the princess instead of having a jolly time sliding down flagpoles?

What about Sonic? There's always a sign to spin at the end of every stage!

And what's the deal with airline food?

This makes me think of Seinfeld haha. Good points for sure.

Kirby multiplies. Then after the dance, he eats his multiplied self.
  • Honestly, if I could divide myself into 3 it would be great.

Closest thing I'd get to a threesome.

But then would that be considered masturbation?

    Hmm...
  • I love that little dance he does with his multiples at the end of the stage.
  • One Kirby dancing, fine. But three? WHY???
  • ^ They figured, "Hey, you know what? There's this guy named Dan Corban over in Canada. I bed it would really grind his gears if we made Kirby split into 3 Kirbys and do a dance at the end of the stage!"

Honestly, go ask the folks over at Kirby's Rainbow Resort. They might have an answer for you.
  • Cause there are 3 sides on a Triangle. Triforce. 3 Castlevania games on NES. 3 forms of Dr. Willy on Mega Man 3. Famicom was releasead on 1983. Etc...

    And 1+9+8+3 = 21, 2+1 = 3!!!!!

  • Maybe those other two Kirbys travel with him all the time in perfect union and you never notice because its a 2D game. Mind Blown.
  • This is a real thread.

    Whoa.

  • If he can split into three to dance, why not for boss battles?
  • Good thing he can't absorb the power of paper and split into threes.

Further proof we have a conspiracy at hand.

Yeah, seriously. And why is it the flag still falls down even if Mario catches on to the lower portion of the pole? I don't see him pulling any strings or anything. Is it a magic flag with special powers? Can it tell what I'm feeling? WTF. We need ANSWERS!!
  • Sliding down a flagpole is one thing. Spontaneous appearance of two other identical Marios is another. I mean, are there multiple Kirbys? Is he just one out of a race of inflatable pink puffballs?

I thought maybe somewhere in one of the games or in the manuals it would give some explanation.
  • I don't know man.. Magic flagpoles are pretty much a mind-**** too.

    THIS. Only feasible explanation.

Btw, my gaming experience with Kirby and Mario will never be the same after reading this thread. Thanks everyone
  • How about this one....what is Gimmick's star made out of?

maybe the pink kirby is just following the one in the middle... so really when your playing ur controlling the middle one, not the pink one!!!! AHHHH
  • How come a morbidly obese Italian plumber is able to do backflips with ease? HOW?!
  • ^^^

    Magic Mushrooms.
  • Maybe beating a boss releases a time space continuum. So dead kirbys from the past celebrate their efforts that finally paid off?
  • You're going to flip shit with that new Kirby DS game that's coming out. I heard you'll be able to control TEN Kirbys, explain that one!
  • If you wear stereoscopic glasses the 3 kirbys merga into a 3d one.
  • ^^^^ you sir just won this thread. Nintendo had introduced a pair of 3 eyed goggles (think Sam Fisher) for the Gameboy. But it was only released in Japan... and cost $400,000. Yeah, back in 1991 Japan was using American currency for some reason... go figure. Nintendo sold 2 pairs and converted the rest into Virtual Boys.
