^ Here in Norway, they actually removed the Poké-rap from the TV show. "Gotta have 'em all", some ment that phrase were the reson kids were so crazy about getting almost everything pokémon related.
I have both copies of MKDD for the Cube. Got the bonus disc version just a few months ago at the flee market. Also have multiple versions of Nintendogs..but is that really the same game? Kinda...just with different dogs...
i think pokemon started it....final fantasy crystal chronicals made you need 4 gameboys with link cables to get all the features instead of using controllers....
The latest one for me is final fantasy 3 on the ds...commy... ds wont let me send mognet online so my only option to get the onion knight armour a few side quest and ultimate weapons is to take and buy another copy just to send mail to....its brilliant on the companies making the shit cuz you cant play the whole game without another copy
Yes, like others have said, I did so with the Pokemon games. The only time I've done it was recently with the new ones. I paid full price for one and got a really good deal on the other, so I figured what the hell. In the past, a friend would get the opposite version, so there was no need for both.
Honestly, I hate it when companies try to lure the money out of your pockets that way. This also counts for me with all the downloadable content on all the modern consoles.
^I'm totally with you on that in almost any case, but I have taken into those (when I had a GBA) those portable Super Mario Bros and Zelda games that hit GBA. In general I refuse to do it and I won't buy DLC either as it damn well should have been there in the first place (and odds are in many cases it is, you just pay to unlock something you already bought on the disc which I find revolting.)
With most of the more classic games like Pokemon, FF, etc. I do not mind this marketing tactic they put into their games at all. For them its obviously for the money, but I see it as more stuff to achieve with my games therefore furthering the play/replay value. Completing a game 100 percent is my favorite part about any game, so I would not object to buying different versions of a game if the benefits are worth it!
DLC on the otherhand...complete bullshit. No way in hell I'm buying into the whole Microsoft points scheme just to get a few new maps or whatever it is to play on. Thats just my opinion...maybe its just because I'm totally over the entire COD/Halo thing. The only xbox game I can really play anymore is NBA 2K11. Classic video games FTW!
Now that I understand what you mean by the question you were asking, I had both Pokemon Red and Blue. I think that was the only game I ended up buying both copies of though.

You mean the pokemon scam? I love it
I grew up with pokemon and I can't lie saying I didn't save all my money as a kid to get red, blue and yellow. It's marketing genius.

Yes it is. It's pretty much the same thing as the Pokemon games in that sense. >_>
And I don't think I've ever done this.
