Because when he sells for a crapload of money and not 5K offers, he just doesn't want anyone to be so hostile with "You got this for a buck dude. You're an ass" stuff. He has every right....but it is killing me too!

Yeah, this was the main reason behind our thoughts on why not to say.
Not that I care either way, but if he sells it on eBay, no one will wonder if he paid a buck or not. I wouldn't advise selling it here because he limits his options in buyers. I don't see how it would matter either way if he told the price. Even if he paid $1,000, someone at some point got it cheap and no one is thinking, "Geez, that dude way back then is a douche. He got this for $X"
This is the first boxed copy to my knowledge. Amazing find for sure.
Is there any way we could see a picture of the pcb?
Thanks for the kind comments everyone. As for the pcb, I don't have a gamebit, not to mention I'm terrified of opening it up lol. I've tested it and it works though.
If you're hoping to sell this for big bucks, people are going to want pictures of the pcb. It's probably worth it for you to pick one up.

X2!
This is a game that potentially worth thousands, so unscrewing two tiny screws would be well worth it. I've opened thousands of Genesis games and haven't come close to damaging a single one.
If you're interested, I could send you a game bit for free so you can open that bad boy up. I could tell if it's legitimate at a glance.
I'm also interested if people can verify the box as being legit?...it seems as if no one has ever seen a boxed copy before...which would make this one stand apart from the others. Everyone is focusing on the cart..rightfully so...but imagine finding a boxed NWC...
Congrats on the EPIC find! I always hope I can find something like 1/10th as cool as this in the wild. Just to have that one great find story. Again congratulations!

The only kind of games that are potentially damamged are famicom because they don't have game bits.
you won't do any damage to a Genny cart by opening trust us

You don't happen to have a shipping scale, do you?
I'd have no problem opening it if you really want to send me one, but I don't have a scale. Either way I'll end up picking one up soon to open it up.
Nice find man! Here is a random thought: Why do some of these comp carts have such shitty games?
Yeah tell me about it. I feel like NBA Jam will just never ever go away
