I had this game new growing up as a kid, and despite putting a butt load of hours into it with my badass fourscore, I don't think I ever beat it. I also remember hearing there is no end.
nobody has yet to beat it this year and it was one of the few that never got finished last year...soo...maybe it needs to be added to the list of never ending games...do we have an official list?
I was under the belief it was a port of the arcade and that one never finishes. Gauntlet 2 does the same first five static stages or so, after that it has over a 100 random maps that pop up in any order it damn well pleases and eventually you can cycle through all of them, but there is no ending. The only huge accomplishment point of the game is the dragon boss that pops up occasionally in random spots on some maps. If you can take it down the gauntlet guy gets all happy and with much more vocal push bellows 'I HAVE NOT SEEN SUCH BRAVERY!' when you do it.
I remember playing this on the C64. A friend and I played, and played, and played, and got sick of it resulting in us giving up. Maybe there is a kill screen like in Donkey Kong as there would eventually be too much data for it to handle, craziness!
I heard in the day the arcade had a kill screen or something 256levels into it, never really researched or dared to go much beyond 100 levels into it before getting sick of it.
