Wii successor simply called Nintendo.

I think this is a great choice if it turns out to be true.  What do you guys think?

  • Anything is better than Project Cafe lol.
  • It'll be something nobody thought of or considered.
  • Not going to be "Ninendo". That would be like naming all new Ford Trucks "Ford" or all Konami games "Konami"...just won't happen...I do think the actually name will be tied in with the company name. It won't just be the "stream" or HD...it would have to be Nintendo Stream...

    Only time will tell
  • I'm just praying that it isn't called the Wii Stream. That would just be disastrous. lol
  • You stream, I stream, Wii all Stream for Wii Stream.

Oh gawd, I hope a Nintendo rep isn't drunk and reading this right now, that is just too awesome of a saying.

    Don't cross the streams!

I would be %100 satisfied if they called it the SuperWii. History does repeat itself...
  • I like the name Nintendo for the system. I don't know why. It's just simple. You know, it would be like "hey Brian, what system is that?" "oh, thats a Nintendo". It just sounds clean and simple. Just my opinion.
  • I think it's gonna be something to do with the number 6, since it's the 6th home console. Super 6, Nintendo 6Stream, something to that effect. this way they rip off both the 360, and the numbering of the Playstation systems.

Well said.   I really think this could actually happen.  It would really emphasize the brand name Nintendo that everyone already knows so well.   Plus, Nintendo sounds much better than Wii or Gamecube or DS
  • How about the Nintendo Entertainment System HD or NES HD.
  • I don't know, a lot of people in my area know the NES as simply Nintendo. I'm pretty sure they won't call it that. I hope it's not Nintendo Stream, though, I don't like that.
  • WII2 - 'Wii squared'

This tickled my funnybone, I needed a good laugh.

This is the same thing I thought when I read this.  Many people refer to the NES as just "Nintendo".

I highly doubt Nintendo is going to name it anything we've heard yet.

    beautifully said
  • People are also talking about it being called Nintendo Beam, guess tomorrow we'll know.
  • When I was a kid I would call all video games "Nintendoes" so I would be very happy if they called their new system the Nintendo. Very fitting and simple
  • I can't say I'm a fan of the name Wii U...
  • Well, we got our answer.. it's the Wii U. I agree with Nathan, I'm not a big fan of the name. Truly innovative, though - the controller is pretty ginormous, it's an interactive touch screen tablet controller that can play the games off of the TV. It looks pretty uncomfortable to me, though, but the developers seem to like it.
  • The biggest problem I see is that there is no way they can sell those controllers for less than $100 each, and kids will beat the shit out of them.
  • Wii U...Sounds stinky

    Litterally. Pii U.

  • My concerns so far:

-Controllers seem a bit uncomfortable, hope they aren't that hard to get used to

-Hope the controllers don't die quickly (battery life)

-Controller price.. they look pretty damn expensive

But it looks like they aren't talking about the console itself yet.. they were just focused on the new controls.
  • Terrible name, such a disappointing conference to me. It looks like my streak of buying Nintendo consoles on launch date will end at four.
  • While it's got some cool features, I don't see myself buying it. I miss the classic way games are played - with a regular controller. I'm not a fan of the kinect, move, or wii motion at all, and if games are designed to be played that way, I'd rather just go outside and play some sports instead. I don't like where gaming is headed.
