Treasure of the Rudras

I'm currently playing through this via the powerpak, and I think it is pretty damn good. Reviews seem to be mixed, and I am not sure why. My theory is that since its "new" to the english speaking audience, they give it low scores for being too "generic". Had this game came out in the US in 96, Im 99.9% sure it would be as regarded as a top tier snes rpg.

It is a standard Jrpg from square from the mid 90s.....which to me, personally, is all I need to love a game (and I have no allegiance to square or any fanyboyism whatsoever, I just love  the style of gameplay).

Anyone else play this? What did you think?

  • I haven't tried it. Thank you for mentioning it. I went out on the internet and found some information about the game. It sounds like it would be fun. I'm an old RPGer always looking for something interesting.
  • Played it once upon a time. Pretty good game. Loved the graphics

  • I'd say its like if FF3/6 meets SD3...not as good as either, but pretty damn good. Amazing soundtrack ad graphics, as well as a unique magic system, and there is 3...well I think 4, different chapters that happen at the same time in the game, which has a day/night cycle triggered by events. Its neat seeing the other party leaving a dungeon as you are entering, then going and playing the other side. The scenarios can be selected every time you start the game too, so you can do them any way you choose.
  • never got around to this, perhaps Ill have to give it a try. Looks like a sweet game tho.
  • It's really interesting, the only big problem in my opinion is the excessive grinding you have to do, especially at later levels, because of some difficulty spikes along the way.
