  • dayum i dont have this one....
  • I do, but am not a fan of it at all. We will have to see if I get a score in.
  • finally a game i own
  • Alright, Batman. I can only go as far as STage 4 without getting killed.

    One of my absolute favorites!

1st score in, got to the top of the cathedral, and because of the wobbliness of my controller's d-pad I got killed (nearly lost several other times in the game because of this), wasted what was almost full health on that final drop claw trying to recover to max health for the Firebug boss battle, ended up losing it all, dammit. My score was 228,200 for this game. See my next post for pic of better score.

  • 222,000

I got stupid and forgot how to beat this boss. I'll try again later in the week.

  • 65,200

Not as high as my first score, but wanted to show off my no deaths victory, and this on my second attempt at the game since January 2009, and since that time, this is now my second time ever finishing it without dying, I'm pretty happy with that.

Okay, so I thought there was going to be a problem with scoring, unintentional point racking due to playing really crappy and trying to recover health, but just found out something that will keep the game balanced...

Ooh, I never knew this, the game loops, just pressed start to check on something relating to scoring, pressed select to pause and noticed my high score from the game I just finished was still up there, hit the first enemy and score went up...nice! And here I've played this game for how many years and never realized this? Well, I do now, game is on, gotta keep playing, so will update my high score once I lose my first life.

Okay, new high score, continuing play after beating game. Guess I never knew the game looped because it always took so long after the final ending screen with the Batman logo that I always figured that was it, glad I kept the game going while I was submitting info here. But I messed up real bad, lost all my health in such an easy place, must be tired, urgh bedtime soon.

Previous score upon 1st death was 395,000 (this is my second run through game), but I well surpassed that tonight. See latest post.

  • Wouldn't killing enemies to regain health count as point racking because you don't know if the enemy you kill will drop a heart or a B? I was just wondering because I played without regaining health since I thought it would count as point racking.
  • While the contest is still young, we gotta figure out how we are going to be playing this. Is it okay to stay at a spot to regain lost health such as at drop claws and move on once you do, or if spending too long to keep from point racking much during recovering times, say longer than a certain predetermined minutes, such as maybe no longer than a minute or two, then have to move on? Or play with no sitting still at all, so no drop claw usage at all nor running back and forth to make enemies reappear, get health recovery along the way with constant forward progress?
  • This is one my favorite games and once I saw this pop up this afternoon I've been going it at it since.

1st attempt didn't go so well. I died in the beginning of the 3rd level. I was pretty dissapointed but I didn't give up. My score was 180,100

2nd attempt was like taking candy from a baby. I did find myself waiting to get health sometimes.  I hate that last little climb before getting to the top of the last boss. It's really challenging but nothing impossible. I beat the game with a score of 504,400. I'm pretty happy with this score.

1st attempt with "health racking" HIGH score 504,400

2nd Attempt with no health racking and Near perfect game! High Score = 256,700

Okay last attempt since I'll be out of town for a bit. I beat the game three times with no "health racking" whats so ever. HIGH SCORE 874,300

  • I'm pretty sure people are going to regain health regardless. We might as well set it as a marathon run.
  • Nice, count me in!
  • Thanks for all the early entries guys! Really awesome!!! Keep em coming!!! As for point racking for health,,, I think its BS that you gotta do it but its up to you guys

    Jeremy.
  • I haven't played this game as an adult, but boy did it frustrate me as a kid. I don't think I ever beat it, EVER. This is great incentive to try and play it this week. Imma try!!
  • I think the rules should be: No intentional point racking/spawn killing. You must keep moving through the level.

If we allow spawn killing for health then we need to allow point racking because it's the same. With health racking, the person who plays aggressive and takes a lot of damage is rewarded by being allowed to get extra points to regain health.
  • Might have to submit a score from the campout as I have my tv already packed for the trip. Actually a game I own and don't have to borrow a copy from smeagolsama as I have had to do the last 2 weeks.

Exactly my thought on the subject.
  • Updated my score with the NO "Health Racking" technique. I was only hit a few times in the game so this really is my best/fastest score. I beat the game in less then 30 minutes.

Will there be looping allowed. Miss Clawful pointed out that once you beat the game it loops over again with your previous score intact. I guess this is kind of what ZOMG was talking about. Kind of like a marathon.

My third try. Might practice this game more. Can you only submit one score?

You can submit as many scores during the week as you would like.  The only stipulation is that you edit your original post with your score with any new scores you submit.  Makes it a lot easier for me to update the leaderboard if I don't have to look through 5 posts by the same person that are nothing but score submissions.
  • There should be no intentional point racking for this contest. If you have to kill a couple extra enemies to regain some health, that's fine with me. Just don't stand there for 10 minutes killing enemies. If you kill several enemies and they don't drop any health, then keep on moving.

    EDIT

Looping will be allowed.  Just keep playing until you lose your first life.

It's fine if we allow it, but there has to be some sort of specified limit. If you see acomicbookguys scores above, he got almost double the score when going for health vs not.

How about something like, you can stop to kill enemies for health only once per stage and you can not kill more then 10 enemies during that time.

  • FYI: If you beat the game you get an extra 100,00 points =). I'd take pictures after I beat the game and it loops.

That sounds fair to me.  Health racking can only be done once per stage and you cannot kill more than 10 enemies during that time.  Does this sound good to everyone else?

Score upon 1st death 739,400 (Looped game twice, lost against the Joker on my third run through it)

    Update, massive scoring-see latest post.

Sounds perfect to me as well.

We should notify this rule in the OP.

I thought you had me. Hopefully I get home by the weekend so I can give this one another try.
  • I was really hoping I had you beat, did a lot of damage to Joker, should've had him beaten, but my nerves were shot to hell, I was getting too anxious, caused me to start getting hit several times within a few seconds, cost me that game. I know if I had beat him I could have at least made it mostly through a fourth game, especially if my score would have exceeded yours, I would've been able to relax a little. But I know I have to keep trying because too many gamers I think are going to be real good at this one, I'm sure there's going to be several scores well over a million points, I think the competition for this is going to be rough, and unlike past games this year, because this is a favorite of mine I going to be giving it my all.
