5 Screw Mike Tyson's Punchout

Found this today at a pawn shop.  This makes makes 4 known copies to my knowledge.  However, let me know if I'm wrong.

  • Yep, that's #4.  Great find!  The label looks to be a little different than the other 3 copies.
  • Thanks for the imput. I hadn't paid attention to the lable difference.
  • Awesome find Jonathan!

The label looks the same to me. What did you notice Aaron?

The other 3 confirmed carts have coding at the very bottom of label.  Jonathan's copy is an earlier label without the coding.
  • Oh I see where your talking about. The others have coding right below the NINTENDO logo.
  • Thanks, It's definitly not as easy to find stuff like it was when I started 12 years ago.  So, this was pretty exciting.
  • Hey man, I added you to the Rare Variants thread. Nice find.

And I'm jealous, by the way.
  • Thanks, I appreciate it
  • You might want to hold off.  He told me that there is no number stamped onto the rear label, which would put it in the refurbished cart category.  Like my refurbed 3-screw Gumshoe and 3-screw DK Jr., it would still be a very rare find.  I think it was Dangevin that told me that NOA refurbed carts were without the rear stamp, like the service carts.  Limbofunk would have more info about this.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Thats awesome! Great find! I didn't even know there were 4, I thought this was number 3. but hey, what do I know!
  • wow thats pretty cool! great find!
  • cool find

  • Hmm, yeah refurbished or not, still very neat. Congrats man!
  • Do refurbs with mask ROM's have EPROMS too? [Open it to find out?]
  • I'd imagine some refurbs just got new shells. Like when kids broke 'em.

    Killer score. I'm jelly
  • Sweet find dude!
  • wow, nice find either way!
  • I am not a variant collector but obviously enjoy finding the more hard to find games. Plus tyson is one of my favs so I am glad to have it. I actually went through a box and saw a tysons and pulled it out and actually had just thought dang I check these all the time and still can't find a tyson 5 screw. Well at the end of another box was another tyson and obviously the top stuck out like a sore thumb and I got real happy. My brother told me to quit being so noticeable because this pawn shop thinks they know there stuff when it comes to old school games. Luckily the workers were in the back cause normally I'm a good actor but for some reason I was jacked.
