Anyone good at Shadow of the Ninja NES?

I rented it from one of my local video stores in like 1990 but didn't really remember it. I just played it for a couple hours, I think it's harder than any of the three Ninja Gaidens so far. Really good game though. The graphics, music and gameplay are all spot on. Probably gonna spend the next week trying to hack through it. Any of you guys ever beat it?

EDIT: One of my friends just texted me, he said it was easy and he beat it in a day. Hmmm maybe I'm getting too old

  • It's not a terribly easy game. I think it's totally underrated and has a decent enough challenge to it. All of the Ninja Gaidens (especially part 3!) are way tougher to complete. I'd put it more in Ninja Crusaders difficulty, tough but not hair tearing. It's a fantastic game nontheless.
  • ^I thought Ninja Crusaders was easy

I haven't played Shadow of the Ninja however

Yeah I think initially I thought it was more difficult. I just got up to the 4th stage again and am starting to pick up on enemy patterns and attacks.
  • Yeah, I beat it without too much trouble a few years ago. Great game, lots of fun. Every now and then I'll pop either it or Demon Sword in for a few minutes of run and slash action.

  • Well just beat it, didn't think I would finish it so fast. I guess I expected there'd be at least a couple more stages. Awesome game though
  • Yeah, I just got this game a month or so ago after owning it and loving it as a kid. After playing through the first stage, I remembered it so well - the power ups, enemies and the like... then I got to the second stage and it was like a brand new game, didn't remember it at all (although I did remember hanging off the rotating platforms). Haven't put a ton of time into beating it yet, but am SO looking forward to it, and totally agree with SamSpade, VERY underrated game for the NES.

Wait, what does Shadow of the Ninja have to do with Ninja Gaiden?

Edit: Unless you are just comparing them, game play wise
