Favorite Gamecube games?

The purple lunchbox and I have a good history. Yeah, there's Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Zelda Wind Waker, and Resident Evil 4 (plenty of Resident Evil on the Gamecube), and there's some others, like Viewtiful Joe, Tales of Symphonia, Pikmin 1 & 2, and others.

My top 10 would be:

(11. Pac-Man World 2 is an honorable mention. I never played the first one until recently, but this always a fun game)
10. Viewtiful Joe
9. Pikmin 2
8. Soul Calibur II
7. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
6. Metroid Prime
5. Beyond Good & Evil
4. TIE: Zelda: The Wind Waker/Zelda: Twilight Princess
3. Super Smash Bros. Melee
2. Super Mario Sunshine
1. Resident Evil 4

So, if there's any Gamecube games you feel like mentioning that you liked, feel free to let me know.

  • Resident Evil 4 hands down the best on Gamecube.
  • Fire Emblem. I have played through that game more often than I would like to count.
  • Wind Waker and RE4 for me. I did sink a bunch of hours into Animal Crossing when it came out as well.
  • My favorite is definitely Eternal Darkness.
  • My favorite GC game is IKARUGA! I got run over by a car in 2005 and broke my pelvis in three places and had to lay in bed for a month and I got amazingly good at Ikaruga. That's when I really laid into GameCube stuff. If you like shmups you absolutely must play it. I think there are versions on XBLA and stuff now too.

Besides that there is so much great stuff on the Cube: Resident Evils, Pikmins, Metroid Primes, Tales of Symphonia, Viewtiful Joes.
  • Pretty much what you mentioned Brony... also add Timesplitters, F-Zero, 1080 and Resident Evil Remake
  • Eternal Darkness was the best Gamecube game hands down imo.
  • Well lets see, I'll try to do a top ten like you did. But remember, as a gamer, this can change according to mood swings.

    1. Star Fox Assault

    2. Ikaruga

    3. Alien Hominid

    4. Soul Calibur II

    5. Super Smash Bros. Melee

    6. Naruto

    7. Naruto 2

    8. Viewtiful Joe

    9. Zelda Windwalker

    10. Tales of Symphonia

Honorable mentions would be Taito Legends 2 and P.N.03(for some strange reason I really like this game)
  • In addition to some of the above mentioned games, I have spent a lot of time with Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. It remains one of my favourite beer and chips games.
  • Add Killer 7 to the lists, and Metal Gear Twin Snakes as well.
  • heck yes, I forgot about Mario Golf and Metal Gear those are both great!
  • How does the Resident Evil remake go without mention? That was THE reason I owned a Gamecube. Hell, it's the reason I still own a gamecube, I seriously can't think of a game that I played through more and was just so pitch perfect. Ninja Gaiden is the only contender in my book.
  • Timesplitters Future Perfect and Resident Evil 4
  • Mine would be Killer 7, WindWaker, FZero and SSB Melee.

FZero is especially amazing. Probably one of the best racers ever.
  • Love Resident Evil 4, RE Zero, REmake, Capcom Vs SNK 2, and Twilight Princess.
  • Resident Evil 4, Wind Waker, SSB Melee, and Fire Emblem.

I had never played a Resident Evil before RE4 and had low expectations for it when I got it. It blew me away once I got into it.

I mentioned in a few posts above yours.  I loved that game.  I was so damn excited leading up to the release of that game and it held up to my expectations.  Just awesome and probably one of the best looking games on the system.  Heck it still looks better than most Wii games.

Here's proof of that, just look at the lighting, ect...

Now I see it. Anyway, considering that the game came out in 2002, the graphics are pretty astounding. The hold up well and looked superior to anything else at the time. I also liked how the difficulty was more fair compared to the original. The controls were easier to maneuver and I didn't feel that moving around Jill Valentine was like driving a tank. Replaying the PS1 version, I had a bastard of a time fighting off the dogs and hunters, it was actually much harder than I remembered when I played it when I was 13.

Another cool thing about the remake was how they connected some of the later plot lines and characters to fit better with the games that chronologically came later. I thought that it was a nice touch.

Indeed. They changed up the flow and many of the areas a bit as well, so it never felt stale. If only they would have remade my favorite game of all time (Resident Evil 2). I would have loved to see RE2 with a brilliant remake like this one.

  • RE 2 was the better game and it would've been sweet to see a remake especially considering that one of the main characters in it was featured so prominantly in RE4. Damn, I wish Capcom would make em like this again instead of the action bullshit they did with Resident Evil 5. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic action game, but it's not a Resident Evil game at this point. The game was devoid of any real scares and I felt like it should be it's own seperate thing.
  • Ikaruga

    Mario Sunshine

    Wind Waker

    Eternal Darkness

    Metroid Prime

    Resident Evil 4

    Twilight Princess

    Viewtiful Joe

True, hopefully with the new 3DS RE they will get back to the old style of scares that they have been moving away from.  So far it looks like they might be doing just that with that game.  As far as the other gamecube RE's... yeah when I heard they were all coming to the Gamecube I was super excited.  Then I found out they were just ports and nothing was getting overhauled... sucky.  If they would have done anything, like upgraded the textures I would have gladly rebought RE2, RE3 and my one of my favorites RE: CV, but oh well.
  • I'd take a look at Resident Evil, Resident Evil Zero & Skies of Arcadia.

I don't have as much of a problem with the action-oriented RE4 and 5 games as much as the stupid rail-shooter crap that Capcom seems to be so fond of now. Ugh.
  • pac man 2 world hands down i love that game or pikmin

I got a kick out of Resident Evil 4 but RE 5 just took it way too far out of the genre it started. RE 4 still had some horror elements to it and provided a creepy atmosphere. The on the rails stuff, I never actually tried but it's not my thing unless someone at Sega revives House of the Dead with an actual lightgun.

  • I love every game mentioned, but c'mon! where's the Pikmin Love?!

    1.Pikmin series

    2. R. E. series

    3. Eternal darkness

    4. Beyond good and evil

    5. Luigi's Mansion

    6. approx a dozen more kick ass games!

    7.Non-existent Earthbound sequel
